  1. The report from the UN Broadband Commission is an amusing read: http://www.unwomen.org/~/media/headquarters/attachments/sections/library/publications/2015/cyber_violence_gender%20report.pdf?v=1&d=20150924T154259 The highlights (It's been a couple of days since I downloaded it, so fair play if they've corrected the few errors I've found) - The fifth citation on page 51 leads to somebody's HDD and citations 72 & 75 on page 59 are blank. I wouldn't be quick to call it (and every bit of research cited) bollocks, but it isn't convincing me to rethink my already dim view on social science.
  2. I don't want to get into a whole "XP>Vista,7,8,8.1,10" debate as they're all near technological perfection buried by gimmicky crap, but if XP was still supported by Microsoft I'd recommend it to the average Joe who just wants to browse the net, consume media and use office applications. There really is nothing in the vista et al. kernel that make it more beneficial to granny & granddad over XP, aside from the support from Microsoft. That last bit is the only reason why I wouldn't recommend XP to the everyday user or that software developers should support it. As for nothing is getting "worse and worse": I used to be able to remove Internet Explorer from W95 OSR2.
