  1. Hi there, I picked up blender a week ago(having a little bit of experience with modelling in the past) and I am trying to recreate a building from my home town. [EDIT UPDATE SCREENSHOT] I wouldn't mind some tips on keeping clean topology like straight lines and stuff like this... It actually drives me nuts. [EDIT] Also I am still thinking how to deal with the lower level brick sculpting, would love some suggestions. Also congrats on the updates, I haven't been here for years but you guys really haven't been just sitting on your asses all this time Really nice to see all that.
  2. Yesterday when I played this mission I was a little suspicious since I haven't seen Kingsal's work before. I was also just after trying some other FM which didn't click for me so a little cautious I launched the "Volta and stone" and immediately it appealed to me in the aspect of distinct visual style. However I found it rather linear, especially in the city part and surprisingly barren when it comes to objects, I am not sure if I liked it but then again it seemed like everything was placed there after a long thought process and it gave the whole thing a very clean, nice look, similar to professional missions. It was definetly higher standard work since it had original voice acting and textures. It also scratched a little bit my itch in the story department getting back to one trope from thief universe which I feel we have totally abandoned. Aside from city part the map was well thought out and a joy to play. I hope to see only better from Kingsal. Thank you for making my evening all that more pleasant. ^^
  3. I feel like I came back to this game just in time to try again and maybe make something with dark radiant! Keep them coming Springheel!
  4. So I haven't played in a while... after starting up some other mission and getting stuck in it I decided to try this Crucible of Omens which last time I was here (2 years ago?) was still in development if I'm correct. I am glad I opened this one because I thought initially that maybe I've had enough of taffin about in the dark mod universe and it seems I was wrong! This is a beautifully designed and crafted mission, using all the best of thief series tropes. The city is vast and sprawling, lots of vertical and horizontal movement allows to really appreciate the complexity and stunning visuals which occasionally caused framedrops on my new laptop but it didn't harm the experience as a whole. The story although rather typical, was very well executed and I immensely enjoyed it as a come back to the game. Although you really have to start coming up with something fresh in terms of writting and story... I like Ulysses premise...(that's the FM I got stuck in). Other then that it is good to see the game is still getting updates and developing. This is truly outstanding that all this work was done by some crazy fans and for the crazy fans of the thief series Keep up the good work!
  5. So! I finished the first part of House of the locked secrets and I can't save anymore, nor delete saves, nor even uninstall the mission! Help... pls?

      pusianka

Ok I have successfully uninstalled and installed the mission, maybe it was one time thing. Besides, I will gladly replay it!

      demagogue

      That's the locked secret! *bu-dum-tish*

(As in the mission locked itself down once you installed it, just in case that wasn't clear.)

  6. Would anyone be interested in a general discussion of stealth genre in gaming if I prepared a thread?

    1. Sotha

      Sotha

Isn't this whole forum about that?

    2. pusianka

      pusianka

Yeah but we talk about Darkmod in particular and about thief occasionally, I would like to go more general.

  7. Hey, haven't played lately. I want some good thiefing experience once more and I thought that maybe The dark mod will answer my needs. Anything fresh and bloody awesome to play?

A House of Locked Secrets is a must! Also look out for Behind Closed Doors, hopefully coming real soon!

      pusianka

Also, I'm a little affraid my laptop will have problems handling the mod. It's not really a gaming machine. Hope these are not too heavy visually...

      nbohr1more

Sir Talbots is almost all indoors so that should be alright. A House of Locked Secrets ran pretty smooth for me but it might be a little heavier...

  8. These are the pictures from Athos. I suggest reading about it for it's a palce like no other! It's like a second vatican, but more fantasy like! http://gosc.pl/gal/pokaz/2242129.Tysiac-lat-modlitwy#gt It's a polish website but you can just click on whichever picture you like to see it, or use the button "następne" which is in small red font above the picture.
  9. http://pieniadze.gazeta.pl/pieniadz/56,136156,16695576,To_mieszkanie_czy_sredniowieczny_zamek__W_Warszawie.html So this is a polish website, just click on the main photo and then keep on clicking arrows on the sides of the screen. And just for the record, that's a flat! In Warsaw! You can buy it for 1.6 million zloty divide by 4 and you have roughly the euros.
  10. Oddworld New n' tasty is already out on PS4. Don't forget to buy it when it's on steam!(Another hidden gem when it comes to story telling and world building)

Just in case you don't know, there are fairly serviceable ports on Steam and GoG.

      Goldwell

@Airship yes I own those ones as well heh bought it on steam as part of a bundle called the oddbox years ago. But New n' Tasty is meant to add new content or something like that which seems cool too :)

    4. Airship Ballet

      Airship Ballet

For sure, definitely going to play them back through close to release though. Currently all my hype's going towards the Dark Souls 2 DLC tomorrow.

  11. Psychonauts is an amazing game. Spread the word!

      Atheran

      One of my favorites too!

@Sotha It's really realy funny with a good (imo) story and no game breaking bugs. Played it like 10 times already and I keep laughing my ass off in the dialogues every time. Give it a try!

      pusianka

It's very wacky but rarely you see so much work put into details in games. It's a platformer but I'd say that style and story actually got me into it. It's nowhere of the greedy mood of thief, that's for sure so you gotta be open for completely different experience.

    4. pusianka

      pusianka

It was made before developers started investing money into graphics and so it's full of content and it all works together very well.

  12. I know this has been debated before but I still think it would be nice to have full body animations for your character and the possibility of third person camera ingame...

But it is maybe not so much about the graphics as about making the world believable and there are many ways of making that happen: graphics, animations, AI, gamplay, etc. and this reality is broken for me at the moment, I find it hard to believe in the world in the missions. Maybe I should start a topic to explain that more..

    3. Sir Taffsalot

      Sir Taffsalot

If Thief 4 taught me anything it's that fancy graphics is very nice but crappy game play and crappy story telling make it all for naught.

    4. Sir Taffsalot

      Sir Taffsalot

TDM kills Thief 4 with regards to game play and off the top of my head i can't recall a TDM FM that has a story that's as terrible as Thief 4.

  13. Ok, I am still in the process of getting through this one but I already need to say that it is so far the most interesting cityscape I've played in TDM!
  14. Ok, there is a grand appeal in Springheel's missions. They seem perfectly balanced: 1. The maps look pretty. (big views, no framedrop) 2. The stories are solid and you don't get lost. 3. The overall quality is set on high bar. What it is missing? A strong, fleshed out main character (like Garrett) and full mystery story. Awaiting more! Had a lot of fun!
  15. Araneidae I think you might have the very same problem I had. You can deal with it in two ways:
  16. Finished! Where is the rating for this one? It was almost excellent! (how do you add spoilers?? I totally forgot...)
  17. Am I the only one who experience crashes every time playing TDM?

I never get crashes, if that helps you decide to start the laborious process of upgrading drivers and firmware. Good luck!

      pusianka

Nah, actually with the new version I get crashes when I play too long, which is good!

  18. Thank god it's over. No more food today, no more, no more, there was too much, too much, tooo MUUUCH...
