  1. Sorry, seems I mistook something from a bit of a different game level for your FM, when it comes to the 'device on the roof'. /sigh ... insomnia can take its toll at times. As for the guild, I suppose I assumed there would be more to this: Also, I can't remember which crate it was, but mantling onto one of the crate with wine bottles in it caused me to be stuck - could only lean, stand etc, but not move or escape that point, so had to quick reload. Also, it is possible to step beyond the boundaries of the FM: Excellent FM, love the freedom to explore and the little side stories to be found! Looking forward to the next entry in the series.
  2. Excellent mission, visually impressive, nice atmosphere - loved the rain on the glass roof in the theater! A couple questions though: Also:
  3. I D/L'd the mission from the download page, installed them manually, started the game and they all registered fine. When to the in-game 'download missions' page to check for updates etc, and realized that for missions with long names the * or # for 'update' or 'translation' cannot be seen. Is there a chance the * and # indicators can be listed at the start of the mission names, with one or two spaces between them and the FM titles? I've no need to download missions for new languages, and doing so just wastes bandwidth - if that's even a concern for the hosters any more. Thanks for reading.
  4. Excellent, indeed! Loved the visuals and the feel of the mansion, as well as the basement and related areas! Perfect level of difficulty for the 'early' guards, a bit annoying just how reactive the 'later' guards were (almost unrealistically so, compared to the 'early' ones). Would be 'excellent' for all catagories, if such a poll had been included in this thread! As per the grates: A few things to perhaps fix, but aren't a complaint so much as a polishing-up of such an excellent effort - as someone else commented earlier most of the moveables aren't placed correctly (1 pixel above the item they are one) and so fall 'into' the object below (this happened dozens of times to me, and so became the only immersion-breaking aspect). There are a few lamps hung from a chain, and as can be seen if climbing onto the roof of the stable the chains stick up thru into the open air - happens inside the mansion in at least one place as well. And as noted above, the 'later' guards are overly sensitive to sounds, even ones made while creeping across tile in deepest shadows. The way the loot was findable is quite logical and realistic - If you finish more of your missions, I look forward to playing them too!
  5. Excellent mission - perhaps one of the best that could be made for TDM! A question - after I finished playing I uninstalled the mission and removed the save games before remembering I never went back to the house where the EDIT: somewhere in the thread above, a reference to a 'part 2' was made ... what is the title of it, or word on state of completion, or abandoned?
  6. Idea just occured to me as to how to deal with the steward and the key ... have him Dunno if the idea even has merit, but if it doesn't work then nothing lost. :-)
  7. Thanks for the quick reply, a point or two of logic in return, though. :-p The door to the backyard does have a handle (as I remember it, just a really flat one which hindsight hints at being a placeholder), and the fact that the other hidden open-ables look exactly like the walls/etc they are embedded in - perfectly flush, not even a hairline of a hint of an outline, no visual difference in rendering an object which will move, etc ... this added to the back yard door being the same kind of visually-the-same-as-the-wall-it-is-in, well, I spent some time trying to find a way. :-p I did have the dining room door closed, being something of a vetran Thief player I already know just how much of a difference a closed door makes toward alerting guards/people/etc. It was surprising that over a half dozen times (I kept reloading) the Lobby guard - already semi-alert, having mumbled about seeing something as I crept across the room in front of him - kept alerting, drawing his sword and bringing the other guards into the room to search with him. I simply gave up on trying to ghost the mission. /selfpity Thanks for all the effort!
  8. Excellent mission! Nice on the fog in the front yard. The room is a nice touch. The house itself is nicely visualized, good on the 'servants/guards' area . Quite nice on how the spatial placement for rooms, halls, etc makes it . A few things I couldn't quite figure how to do, a little help would be appreciated - . . A few points to ponder - . All in all, an excellent effort! Hope you have it in you to work on more ** EDIT -- is there a way to render test unreadable by simply making a block of the background match the color of the text? I thought that's what would happen when using the [.spoiler] code, but doing so renders more like using the [.quote] code.
  9. Sorry for the non-specific reference ... Yeah ... this ...
  10. Cool! A final thought is that somewhere in the thread prior, someone observed that a tree limb was visible inside a room in an upper corner but that to fix the visual error the tree would need be moved. I noted that as well, but didn't think to screen-shot it and I forget where it was. As the previous observer stated, its just cosmetic and not overly obvious or intrusive to the mission to the point immersion is broken - its so common in so many games its mostly just tuned out. :-p Look forward to your next missions! Edit: You said you've updated the mission ... for completeness' sake, has the mission link been updated with the corrections yet? The missions page only has a 'Submitted' date, there is no 'last updated' column, nor does the 'Mission Details' page.
  11. Just a suggestion, as in-game in places it would be nice to toggle crouch for awhile and remove that for instant-stand/crouch ability in others ... Same for run, so one doesn't have to hold another key to run, as it can be cumbersome to naviagte while moving fast and needing hold an extra key down ... Just a thought ... and if it has been suggested etc, I apologize if its already a closed topic. Thanks for all the work put into the game so far, and any yet to come!
  12. Away from TDM for awhile ... returned to find it updated twice since I last played it ... look forward to trying the new missions, etc ... :-) Just finished this mission, really liked it! I"ve always preferred the 'never be seen, leave no evidence of having passed through' style missions - this one is great for that! With that, sorry to say I've to report a few small issues ... mostly cosmetic or engine-reated. Ceiling issue when entering the living quarters area: Baths area in living quarters ... I frobbed then immediately dropped the item to check if it was valuable, it landed half way thru the shelf: Collision engine issue with buckets and walls, perhaps: The spiders, or at least this one, seem to 'climb' the ladders over long stretches of time as turn in place: Finally - it seems humans are able to pick up ghosts once they are, er, deceased (having broken the curse) ... Just a few cosmetic issues, really ... excellent story, albeit brief in readables and story-forwarding contexts ... as I'm the kind who tends to search all over before moving into the main areas, I'd no troubles with the layout of the current-and-as-I-understand-it FINAL version of this mission ... Always good missions from you, and this is another excellent one, I look forward to replaying the others ... keep up the good work!
  13. FM downloads page shows message of Am I missing something other than a working link?
  14. My argument wasn't for mushroom bomb-things, as neat as the idea is. It was just, after reading thru some of the replies, to clarify that such things exist.
  15. The information I suggested is just basic for most any problem for most any game. Having searched thru the threads to find how to correct different issues, I'd noticed quite a few common problems that aren't able to be diagnosed by using such basic info. The programmers/advanced users who do the troubleshooting are the ones that would really have to decide on what would be necessary for such a checklist. Things like a GarrettLoader program seem to crop up given enough time, and as with T1, T2, etc., there are rare complications using such. I included it here simply as a frame of reference to flesh out the idea. As nice as the programming for Doom is I'm sure that, infrequently, lines of code might need to be implemented. Again, I only included the idea on the list of suggestions as the need for tweaks/improvements/issues will more than likely arise, given enough time. Note that I'm not the best person to create such a list, past the usual bits of information that are usually left out of requests for help. Hence, a stickied form made up by those more in the know. :D:D
  16. Puffballs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puffball They used to grow around in the woods that were across the creek/ditch behind my house when I was a kid. The woods are now all gone (/long sigh), and the puffballs don't show up any more. When the puffballs reach a certain age, they would dry up and turn into a leathery bag of spores that ends up with a single small hole in the middle of the top. We used to pick them carefully and throw them at each other as we roamed thru the trees (we didn't really understand that breathing the spores in could be hazardous to our heath, but we wouldn't've cared ). When the dry puffball spore sacs hit something, like a tree or a friend, a nice-sized (depending on how big the puffball had grown) puff - go figure - of brown powder would explode out of the top. The spores were incredibly light and would tend to float upward even in windless conditions, and the small cloud of them would easily engulf one's head, even with the mid-sized mushrooms. Good for one solid hit or several light tosses before the spores ran out. We eventually stopped throwing them at each other's heads, as the spores weren't pleasant to taste or inhale. If you care to see them, a few pretty nice pictures can be found by searching for 'puffball mushroom' using Google image. These are what I'm used to: http://www.edupic.ne...ushrooms014.jpg The one in front is prolly about as big as a thumb joint on an, er, average person's hand. They can grow up to about three feet in diameter. Just FYI.
  17. First off, this is a great mod! I purchased a system about 10 or so years ago, and it came bundled with Dark Project. I didn't play it for about 3 years, but one day out of boredom I loaded it up and was hooked. Ghosting is the thing! When I saw the Doom mod being coded, I wan't sure if it would ever be followed thru on, as sooooo many people start things of this magnitude and never finish. Great job! To the point, though: In the tech support section, innumerable people state they have problems but either don't post any system specs or just include basic specs which prompt other to ask for more and more details. Is there a way to get someone to post a checklist for system/spec/details that are needed for diagnosing what the problems are and what the solutions would be? Someone who would know everything about the system/game interaction details that would be needed in order to address such issues would need to flesh out any such checklist, of course. The bare minimum for the checklist would be something like: -- Version of the mod (with how it was installed: .exe w/no filepath modifications, .exe in custom folders, how many installs, manual update of certain files, etc.) -- Using GarrettLoader-type utilities for installing/running levels -- What scripts if any have been added (similar to gaylesaver, etc.) -- OS with version, 32/64 bit -- Processor (motherboard?) -- Memory - type & quantity -- Video card with Driver information -- Audio card with Driver information -- Video driver settings (simple presets/advanced presets/custom settings) -- Audio driver settings (if applicable - presets/custom) -- DirectX version (with instructions on making DxDiag log file) -- In-game settings -- In-game mods (widescreen fixers, custom image/texture packs installed, etc/) etc, etc. Others would know better what to include. When issues crop up for me, it's a royal pain to have to search thru seemingly endless posts where the people trying to help have to ask again and again for the needed information. Just a thought that if a checklist like this could be stickied it would speed things up, as well as force the casual user to learn what these things mean. If the person with the problem doesn't understand the question, s/he might not be able to understand the answer.
