  1. Well it hasn't happened yet in my game. To clarify, I don't want them to flinch every time they get hit and give the player time for additional attacks, I want them to flinch when they get hit during their own attack animation, which means the player started his attack animation first and should cancel theirs (but allow them to block the next one, or start another attack of their own). If it happens then it doesn't happen every time, if not very rarely since I've yet to see it occur after some testing. I'm not opposed to the idea of the player flinching and having his own attack cancelled if he gets hit during its animation which in that case means it was started after the enemy's at the wrong time. As for damage levels, the enemies already kill you in a couple hits, I'm not sure if one hit "headshot" kills would be fair unless the player can achieve that too.
  2. I didn't know where to put this but since people mentioned combat here I might as well. I like that you're weak and can't run around killing everyone, something that outside mission/difficulty limits was possible in Thief by exploiting AI weaknesses, but at the same time I find combat here is unfair. Enemies don't appear to flinch at all when you hit them so if they've started their own attack animation, even after you started yours, their attack will come through and hit you with no time to block which is a big blow since it only takes a couple hits to kill you. I think most enemies should flinch and cancel their attacks when damaged unless they're special enemies in full plate armor or whatever (in which case you probably shouldn't do damage anyway). This would make one on one fights more viable as a last resort yet more enemies will still be a death sentence and something you want to avoid. Other than that relatively minor issue (it's not a combat game anyway) The Dark Mod seems like the perfect update to the Thief formula outside minor issues barely worth mentioning (like enemy combat animations and climbing camera motion). I can't wait to play more missions
  3. i7 3770K, 16GB DDR3 1600, Gigabyte HD 7970 OC 3GB, all stock on Win7 64bit, latest non beta drivers. Running the game maxed at 1080p, no tweaking. It's fine normally but the frame rate crawls when underwater or when I die and start seeing the fuzzy bloody vision overlay. Maybe those effects are made with Nvidia architecture in mind?
  4. Jawdropping. Thank you! *demodemodemodemodemodemodemodemo demodemodemodemodemodemo demodemodemodemodemo* Huh? Did someone say something? Thought so.
  5. Where did you read the requirements?! Pixel Shaders v3.0 REQUIRED? So they are dropped all ATI cards except for the absolute last generation? Why do they even have to do that? The game works on the Xbox 360 which as far as I know only supports up to Pixel Shaders v2.0. Or am I wrong? Either way, they're closing off a pretty big portion of the market I think This is probably the first game to require the absolute latest Pixel Shaders version. The only other similar requirements I've seen is for Pixel Shaders v1.4 (or 1.3, not sure), which means every card since the Ge Force 4 era can play them Man I was really looking forward to this game, I didn't like the previous of the series but all the gameplay videos of this one look absolutely fantastic
  6. I'm still looking forward to this even though I don't like some of the feature removals. They've toned down many aspects of it including the AI stalkers that would compete in quest completion with you (but they'll still wander around doing their thing). Anyway, I always thought it sounded too ambitious and used to say that it would be a great game if they achieved half of what they claimed they wanted to do. It looks like that's going to happen more or less. As for the graphics, they still look fantastic to me. My computer isn't getting any younger anyway. It's no Crysis but it looks great and with the weather system and day night cycles and all the details they are putting in it should be very immersing.
  7. Well the brief pause could be a side effect of the recording or the video itself. I won't mind either way, it's probably something you get used to and not notice when you play a lot. The game looks extremely fun. Arx Fatalis had its fair share of problems but that didn't stop it from being an amazing game. The physics usage in this title looks rather high so I can understand a brief pause or a a few low fps seconds. Check out this video as it showcases the level of interactivity much better:
  8. It's not there, don't think of it as an M&M game. Ubisoft bought the rights to the name for brand recognition alone but this game is completely unrelated to the original series. The universe itself is being created from scratch and they've said it won't include the sci-fi aspect anymore. Heroes of Might & Magic V looks a bit more faithful to the tradition of HoM&M, though I don't think you'll be seeing sci-fi in that either. Think of DMoMM as a fantasy action rpg by the wonderful developers of Arx Fatalis which will attempt to offer three different gameplay experiences depending on your class. There's no reason to be dissapointed by a good game (if it ends up one, things are looking promising) just because it's not a real part of a series you like.
  9. Enemies can be disarmed in DMoMM, perhaps you missed that happening? Can't bother watching the video again myself to see. I only viewed the YouTube version (low res) and didn't even notice he only has a shield when he does that. Komag he means Steam, some people don't want to buy games that use it. If you want to discuss that please refer to the previous DmoMM thread, discussion ended up all about that instead of the game there. Let's not turn this thread into a copy of that
  10. Watch the older video on the same page. It's the same area played with the warrior class. Looks like an almost completely different game. Good stuff. *waits for the wizard video*
  11. I made a new thread because the last one about the game has gone completely off topic and is now a discussion about Starforce, Steam, company practices, and id's ownage. Anyway, the Might and Magic website has been updated with a new layout, character/enemy profiles, and some new videos for download or stream. The latest video shows gameplay with the assassin class. Thief fans will have a pleasant surprise after the first kill I think, I know I did. Click me already!
  12. Just like most movies these days are rehashes, but there's the odd artistic/different experience presented, the same happens with video games. The gems are there as long as you are willing to look for them. And just like it's ok to have the former kind of movies, imo it's ok to have that in games too. I don't buy that many games anyway, so it's not like I've had too much of a kind. And I also enjoy all the freewares out there, there's some pretty awesome retro gaming hidden on the www, often with unique and interesting twists added on. It's all about FUN
  13. Oddity maybe you should take games less seriously and just use them as entertainment, not something that has to have an amazing new plot (except for adventure games which have to have that) and the all innovative gameplay. For example, I still find lots of retro games fun, it doesn't have to be all new to be that. NaaC is my current favorite: www.bloodymonkey.com - try it! And by the way playing any game is basically a waste of time. It's why they exist, to kill time until you have something better/more important to do! Like any kind of entertainment I guess. About the Prey performance, I have an X800 XL (256MB Ram version) and it runs better than Doom 3 does for me. That means pretty damn good, I didn't spot any real slowdown and I'm usually very picky about such things (I'm not one of those people that think 30fps is acceptable!). Using the latest Catalyst display drivers with Ati Tray Tools.
  14. Lol, you can make your own levels without having the weapons in. Yeah I recall that discussion about being able to get the enemies unconcious even though they wear helmets and you were very against that (did they ever consider my suggestions, if you remember?). You didn't respond to my other points or suggestions on what to play
  15. Well, if you want to play a FPS, it's either going to be that kind of premise, or a realistic squad based approach like the Rainbow Six series used to be. How else could they do it in a single player environment (I assume we aren't talking about MP titles now)? There are still many games that aren't all about that too, such as some of the good adventure titles and what not. Well, I suppose they can still be about saving the world but often they have much smaller scale stories that only matter to the main character(s) rather than the whole universe. And they make more sense than killing every enemy in existence. Atleast within their own constructed world. And what about RTS or puzzle games? I don't enjoy RTS games myself but there's the odd fun quirky puzzle title released every so often. And what made you work on The Dark Mod? Or enjoy the Thief series? Those were pretty much about saving the world too, except you did it by sneaking around everyone rather than killing everyone. So, what gives?
