  1. This isn't going to be something I need anytime soon...I need to get everything else about the book working first.
  2. I already have the page curls done.
  3. Well, to a certain extent it is the author's responsibility, but we shouldn't include it as a feature without making sure it can be done well.
  4. I wasn't thinking about position so much as how to make the picture look like it is drawn on the paper of the book. Text comes with a transparent background automatically...it is much harder to do that with images and have it look good. I might be able to fake it with some kind of border or something...I'll have to look into it.
  5. Well, now that I understand a little more about how to make guis, I've come up with a slightly different idea for the main menu. It will still show off a city environment, and will include a small animation like the current D3 one does. I'm working on putting together a small .avi to show you what I have in mind, but it will take a few days to get the images I need. I hope to have at least a rough version by Friday.
  6. Oh, ok, I didn't remember that. I don't think that should be a problem here. One thing that *might* be a problem for me is making a page-turn animation. Actually, I'm thinking we could probably cheat and do something that is only a single frame or two, but I'll probably need some help scripting that. Won't have to worry about that for a while yet though. Ah, that's good. I was wondering how we would get our fonts in there....
  7. Oh crap, my first editing mistake. Sorry Spar, hit edit instead of reply. I tried to reconstruct your post as best I could. Ah, you're right, of course. So it will require two potential interactive 'buttons'. Still easier than the main menu. You're right, it would. I don't think that would be too hard, although getting them to look like they mesh with the page might. I'll look into it. Hmm, not sure what you mean by this, Dave.
  8. I mentioned it indirectly in my weekly update, but you're right, I should have been more direct. My plan is to see if I can do both the readable books and menu screen GUIs. I'm starting with the books because they should be easier (since they aren't interactive). I should have a nice mock-up of the main menu animation by some time next week. So don't hand out those tasks (in terms of scripting) until I give it a go...if I find it too complicated (and so far it doesn't look that bad) then I'll let you know. I'll definitely need some programming help at some point, but I'll see what I can get done on my own first.
  9. Hmm, I'm still getting the problem this morning.
  10. I haven't been able to find a place that sets it permanently. I can change it manually every time, but that's a pain. The reason I panicked was that this seems to be a new thing...at least, I can't remember it being set that way previously. So I was worried that whatever created these mysterious borders also deleted some messages. I'm glad that isn't the case.
  11. They mean the model has been spoken for. I guess I said it in the other request post, but not this one. I'll add it.
  12. I've been asking around at D3W, and I'm getting the sense that we don't have to stick with the mirrored textures as D3 currently does. We just have to create our own UV map for the character models. Is this true? If so, we should certainly do that for your zombie, BT.
  13. So none of the admins are responsible for this? Was Modetwo up to something??
  14. Well, you can still get around the site, you just have to hit the stop key as soon as each page loads. It's a pain in the ass. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.
  15. I just tried getting on, and the same thing happened. After a few seconds of seeing d3w, I was redirected to this site: http://www.tha-forum.net/ Unfortunately, it's not that uncommon...I've found foreign code in my own website from time to time.
  16. True, robots exist in real life, but using electronic circuit technology (and even then nothing that can master the bipedal speed, recognition and pathfinding ability of the Thiefbots). The idea that such a thing could be powered by a boiler and some gears is as ridiculous as animate zombies. To each their own woo...
  17. I think you would have to use just as much 'magic' physics to explain bots that can see and talk and move, powered by a boiler, as you would for animating dead tissue.
  18. Nothing is impossible if you delve into physics deeply enough. But I don't see how security bots are any less 'woo' than moss arrows or zombies.
  19. Ok, I had a panic moment as suddenly I couldn't find a number of threads I knew were there. Then I noticed it was set for displaying only the last 30 days. Is there any way to reset this? Currently I can only do it manually for each forum. Also, is this useful for our new members? There is no hint given that there might be more messages they aren't seeing.

I agree, we should use the same textures for the goblet. BT, can you send them to Deep O?
  21. Man, that looks like I could pick it up, it's so real. One thing to consider...people are going to look at the globe and wonder what universe they are in...does The Dark Mod take place on an alternate earth? If not we should probably texture it in a way that is fairly neutral.
  22. Oh, there definitely is. But there are more things in the Mansion Pack thread than this one. Still, if you'd like to do these, they now have concept art for them: Blackjack Holy Water flask I'll have to get some people working on the concept art for the others.
