  1. On https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/ I see the "log in" link, but I cannot find a "create account" link, or any description on how to create an account, or who/where to ask for one.
  2. I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. :) I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far. :)

  3. I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. :) Written in Stone is already done.

      Sorry about that. You are right, I spotted it myself to be slightly harsh, but didn't change it.. Thanks for the feedback on that and for your help on the wiki.

    3. Petike the Taffer

      Petike the Taffer

      Righto. :) I need to update a fair few things regarding the FM articles (including some of the older links) so I'll have plenty of work with this in the weeks ahead.

      TheUnbeholden

      Nice work Taffer. What articles have you done the most on so far? > :)

  4. Is there something wrong with the forums lately, or is it my browser? I've been having trouble formatting posts, and just now I couldn't format anything at all.

    I'm using Vivaldi.

    Usually I have to: select text, click bold, nothing happens, select again, click bold, then it works.

    Same for other stuff, like creating spoilers, bullet points, links. Nothing works the first time.

    1. datiswous

      datiswous

      I have no problem. I use Firefox. @Zerg Rush also uses Vivaldi. Have you tried without extensions, or in another browser?

      (btw. bold, italic and underline have shortcut keys: Ctrl B, Ctrl I and Ctrl U, you could try that)

  5. Something's wrong with the wiki. Going to anywhere but the home page returns something like this: MediaWiki internal error. Original exception: [521710f625297c8cef7aa5f4] 2023-12-19 13:47:30: Fatal exception of type "IntlException" Exception caught inside exception handler. Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information. @taaaki
  6. I'm wrapping up a new series, with hub named "GUI Scripting Language" and children (except preexisting) named "GUI Scripting: ..." If you find an error for me to fix or otherwise recommend an improvement, please mention it here. Thanks.
  7. Hello fellow mapper comrades! The briefing wiki article has been updated and now it gives simple instructions how to create Text-only BriefingsButton Controlled Animated BriefingsTimed Flowing Animated Briefings The article also contains a simple packages to edit in order to easily create animated briefings of both types. Note that the briefing_flowing package has a .gui-file which has been fixed against the ESC-press-no-more-mouse-cursor -issue (thank you LEGION!). Animated Briefing Creation has never been this easy! (And fun.) Enjoy! http://modetwo.net/d...?title=Briefing EDIT: I have linked from the wiki article to the briefing package creation .zip's which are currently hosted at mediafire. Would it be possible to have them in a more stable place? I am talking about two .zip files weighing approximately 100kb each. It would be nice if we had these easily accessible from the wiki article. I tried to attach them to this post but alas I cannot.
  8. Hello Guys I need some help/hints/advice It´s because i prefer being/working offline , and also my Brother in france has no real internet (he mostly needs to go to a public Library ) So my idea was to get the DarkRadiant Sektion from the WIKI downloaded for offline use . therefore I tryed "HTTrack_64-noinst-3.49.2" which I got from "Heise.de" It´s told that the Standard use is good for most webpage-downloads --- but after more than 10hrs and over 10Gib with million off external stuff I stopped the download . 1. the Download is making a total mirror of "wiki.thedarkmod.com/..." even with the setting to ".../index.php?title=DarkRadiant" this wouldn´d be bad but wasn´t intendet 2. My most concern is about the millions off external links , which mostly look like useless stuff .(and often seems have nothing to do with TDM/DR) (it looks like it has downloaded the whole "thief.fandom.com/wiki" and at the end before i stopped it "en.wikipedia.org/wiki" So my question is how to trigger the App to get maybe just the internal links to work , or does one need alll the others ? P.S. ? had anyone tried this before ? succcessfull ? and how big would the download be ? I appreciate any comment you can give me and maybe a PM from a German would be nice Greetings from Bergante
  9. Recently I started listing the Abandoned Works on a wiki page. Looking through some of the project folders I encountered assets that were posted on the forum years ago (for example this fish), but I never read about them before. I don't think the forum is good for listing assets, it's off course good for discussing. So I was wondering maybe it's an idea to make a list of game assets, including scripts, centered in one place? Knowing the assets exists, people are able to find it on the forums (placing direct links on the wiki page will get outdated). I might have to ask people for permission.
  10. DarkRadiant Video Tutorials wiki page I made some changes to the DarkRadiant Video Tutorials wiki page. I added missing descriptions to some of the video's and more video sources. https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=DarkRadiant_Video_Tutorials Just wondering if people might disagree with some of the changes, especially the added video's from different makers. Or people have suggestions. If not, then good. Edit: I removed the link to Bikerdudes video's again because in them he talks of reusing parts of maps from other missions (in this case I think mission A new Job). I didn't check out all of his video's in that playlist, so I didn't spot it before. The reason I removed them is that I don't want people to show the wrong example of building. Also, I think that the video's (although very informative), aren't great purely as instruction. Edit 2: Added dates of video submissions.
  11. When someone cries for help on the wiki instead of the forum (I wonder how many people have read it, but I found it funny that it's still there):

      Maybe the answer can be found on the wiki.

  12. There's now image gallery functionality on the wiki. I asked taaaki to enable this and he did.

    See here for an example:

    https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=The_Hare_in_the_Snare:_Part_1_(FM)  (scroll down to the Gallery section and click on one image)

    You can still have the old functionality by middle click on an image.

      Wow, that's cool!

  13. Hey @greebo

    Curently in the wiki, the image viewing is suboptimal. Mediawiki has a feature, which is included in Mediawiki (1.31), for better image viewing. It just has to be enabled it seems:

    https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MultimediaViewer

    I thought it would be a good idea to enable it on our wiki.

      taaaki

      I've added the extension, but it is configured as a beta feature for now and isn't enabled by default. When logged into the wiki, go to preferences, then the "Appearance" tab. There should be a checkbox for "Enable Media Viewer".

      Give that a spin and let me know if that works for you.

    4. datiswous

      datiswous

      Thanks. It works great. When you click on an image it loads faster, because not the whole image detail page gets loaded (I guess). The navigation is also nice on pages with multiple images in them like the entity database and the fms pages. It's especially useful if the images are thumbs which link to the bigger image, like here for example.

  14. Since Aluminum directed me here ( https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/9082-newbie-darkradiant-questions/page/437/#comment-475263 ) can we have unlimited renderer effects? Well, maybe not unlimited, by maybe 3-5? Thanks.

      Since I wasn't the one mainly asking, I'll just cite you in the original thread instead.

      AluminumHaste

      There already is a kind of sorting, sort nearest, sort decal, sort <n>. For things like windows and such, sort nearest should probably have the desirable affect, though looking through multiple translucent shaders might kill performance.

    4. Nort

      Nort

      Is having multiple render effects really killing performance that badly? I don't understand. You're saying that if I have two transparent objects side-by-side, then they'll just count as two render effects, but when combined, they somehow become something much more difficult to render?

      Never-the-less, unless we're talking some kind of infinite portal problem, why not let the mapper choose how much he wants to kill performance? Just warn him against putting too many effects close together.

  15. Woo!! 2.10 Beta "Release Candidate" ( 210-07 ) is out:

    https://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/21198-beta-testing-210/

    It wont be long now :) ...

  16. I don't think there's a link to thedarkmod.com on forums.thedarkmod.com ...

    1. datiswous

      datiswous

      Yeah and the wiki and moddb. It should have those links in the footer I think. Probably easy to add by an admin.

      Edit: And a link to the bugtracker. I'm always searching for a post in the forum that links to that because I can't remember the url.

      Reluctance to improve the forums is matched by reluctance to allow more people to work on it. Talk about trust and power.

  17. I'm doing some major archiving and updating on our wiki and the Thief wiki. It should be completed soon enough. I would also like to ask a question: The author "Digi", who made the TDM FM "Poets and Peasants", is Digital Nightfall from TTLG.com ? Or is he a completely different author ? Thanks in advance.

    1. demagogue

      demagogue

      Digital Nightfall, aka Dan, has been contractually barred from making FMs as long as he's been working for Arkane, so it's very unlikely to be him.

    2. Petike the Taffer

      Petike the Taffer

      Thank you. :) This is precisely why I'm asking, as I know he's been working at Arkane for years. I wanted to be sure, without a shadow of a doubt, that it was someone else, with a similar nickname. I know that DN's abbreviated nickname back in his TTLG days was "Digi", so that was the confusing element that created the whole conundrum.

  18. The TDM script reference on the wiki page seems to be pasted twice over. It's already a long enough page as it is... 🥵

      It looks like someone tried to make it "easier" by having all the commands listed sorted by spawn class. If that is needed, it should probably be on it's own wiki page. Do you have wiki editing rights?

    3. Spooks

      Spooks

      I don't but then again that double listing has been around forever iirc (subsection 1.1 v 1.2). There was a whole section 2 that was basically a repeat of 1. It's good that stgatilov regenerated it though, not only did it make that go away but the last update was from Dec. 2021.

    4. datiswous

      datiswous

      Styling of that page is quite minimal. I added some styling myself (with Stylus plugin), to make it better readable:

      Spoiler
      h2 {
          font-size: 180%;
          margin: 2em 0;
      }
      h3 {
          color: blue;
          margin-bottom: 0.5em;
      }
      h4 {
          margin: 2em 0 0.5em 1em;
      }
      dl {
          margin: 0 0 1em 0.5em;
      }

      Spoiler

      scrpt.jpg.5242789874719821bfdc520284fd70a6.jpg

      This does make the page much longer.

  19. All I want to do is import a basic, static model into the editor. The model is in .lwo format, the polygons are all triangles, the UV's are all mapped correctly. I am not a modelling noob. The textures are all square, and in .dds format. The model does not need a collision mesh or a shadow mesh. It is just a small teddy bear. The problem is that I do not know how to associate a material with this custom model in DR. And in the wiki, which is so out of date now, there is a page that specifically deals with this issue but the example images do not load! Does anyone have the example images from this page? https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=Model/Texture_Guidelines Because I see that I need the path info for the model textures to be embedded in the .lwo mesh file, but the example of the path I'm supposed to use does not load in the wiki. Or maybe someone could please just give me a short description of how to import custom models into DR? I am an experienced modeler and texture artist, so no need to ELI5, it's just associating the custom model with a material file in DR that I cannot find any info on. EDIT: Is it something to do with entity .def files? https://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=DEF_Files
  20. Hi, I would like to know how to register to TDM Wiki (and if editing is possible), as far as I can see only logging in is possible

      Thank you for doing this, and thank the rest of the team for getting 2.07 out the door! Not really using low end hardware anymore; the weakest thing I play on is a GTX770-4GB, but still.

  22. Oddest thing happened. For some reason, I can't access the forum or the Wiki anymore--and this is only for things related to TDM. I tried opening in another browser, no go. Attempted thru a VPN, nothing. Only thing that works is on my mobile or by using Tor. (This just started sometime earlier this week. ) I'm wondering if it's because I'm in Vietnam, they do block a lot of sites and addresses--sometimes randomly. Has anyone else had weirdness like this before? -mmijimm
  23. Not so long ago I found what could make a pretty good profile picture and decided to try it out on these new forums. But I couldn't find a button anywhere that would let me change it. I asked on Discord and it seems Spooks also couldn't find anything anywhere. So I logged into an old alternative account and, lo and behold, that account has a button. This is on the first screen I get when I: 1) click on my account name in the top-right of the browser -> 2) click on 'profile'. Compared to my actual account: Are you also missing this button on your account? It'd be very much appreciated if that functionality could be restored to any of the affected accounts.
