...wow, such a beauty - Gameplay, graphics, design, story - looking forward to part 4!

One issue though:

Spoiler

Objective: Edridge is an inhumane... - I got it while Mrs. Hable's notebook was already in my inventory. I spent almost 45 minutes running arround doing "pixel hunting" before resorting to let's play videos.
Solution: Drop the notebook (R), pick it up again.

What i liked most:

Spoiler
  • Optional objectives forcing you to ghost the level. You try not to fail it and it gives you extra incentive to creep around.
  • Rich story which at the same time IS projected into objectives. Also how objectives are added during gameplay is good.
  • Getting Sam's skeleton to good resting place - what a great idea how to use game mechanics!
  • Level design from different environment to puzzles.

I just (re?)played this, dunno if I ever finished it. Very nice mission, no wonder that it's such a classic. :)

There are two things which were very unclear to me though:

Spoiler

1. The spot below the interrogation room, when you just heaved up the block, and drop down to the corpse of Sam. I didn't have a clue what to do, so I came here for a solution, found out that you have to use the heart. I did that, and... something happened. Had no idea what, because it only gave an audible clue. Searched a bit around, and found out that some stone blocks are movable, all of a sudden. Found the exit then. But, very unclear and confusing for me.

2. The place to destroy the heart. I would have never found the spot if I hadn't looked for a solution here. It didn't even occur to me that the sewers where you came from were somehow connected to the spring below the mansion. I don't conside myself a dumbo with riddles like these, but, that one? Never in a thousand years I would have found out where to destroy the heart.

Unfortunately, it's the same in quite a few other TDM missions as well. The riddles and secrets are simply too hard. Never had such issues in the original Thiefs.

Overall, very enjoyable mission, but, due to these issues, a bit frustrating as well.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
