electric_wall_fancy_up looks lit when off

The glass in the unlit skin (lights/electric_wall_fancy_up_unlit) for the model lights/non-extinguishable/electric_wall_fancy_up.lwo is bright, so when the light is turned off and I change the model, the lamp still looks lit in the dark.

Any chance of getting the glass darkened?

I haven't tested the unlit skins for any of the other electric lights that are similar to this one.

As a comparison, the unlit skin for the grille light (lights/non-extinguishable/grill_light.lwo) is perfect.

Thanks.

This is an old issue. The current default system for turning lights off (something like the 'colorme' skin I think it was called?) sets the skin color to the light color, which is why it turns black, and it won't work for something skinned with a texture like the light shell, just the bulb and other single-color skins. An alternative (in my limited understanding) might be to completely swap to another skin or object, or maybe there are other kinds of alternatives, but they would take some work to work out. If you're interested in this issue, play around with it and see if you can work out a better system. Somebody needs to look at it, and there's nothing stopping anybody that cares about it figuring it out.

Edit: Oops, just saw Spring's post. I missed what was done for v1.01. So I guess the solution has already been worked out, and it's just a matter of either (1) making sure you're actually using that solution and not inadvertently reverting to the old system, or (2) making sure the new way is robust and isn't broken (or under what conditions it works / breaks).

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Well, not necessarily. The issue is that some of the glass textures are self-lit (like the glass partitions in Builder's Influence). The lights were using that glass. I thought I fixed the skins to use a different glass, but either I missed some or the glass I chose had the same problem. So apparently there is still something to fix.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
