ahem! (cough cough)

No. But the post gave me a laugh. And I'm sure next time I'm playing I'll probably hear it and be struck laughing harder.

(...All of which is good because I've just watched a new BBC show which was one of those that seemed to be almost funny, seemed to have a promising cast {with the exception of one "comic actor"who never fails to signal that we're in for dreck}, seemed to start off, at least, well... but became underwhelming and ended up as... dreck, indeed.)

Aunt Selma.

Funny yeah but breaks the immersion when you're lockpicking...

Sideshow Bob: Selma, would you mind if I did something bold and shocking in front of your family?

Selma: <cough, cough> All right, but no tongues.

Sideshow Bob: Although kissing you would be like kissing some divine ashtray, that's not what I had in mind. Selma, will you marry me?

Bart: Don't be a fool, Aunt Selma. That man is scum.

Selma: Then call me Mrs. Scum. <cough, cough>

There is one that sounds like someone recorded it while coughing into a tin can or something really strange if that's what you mean. Yeah, its really out of place.

Which vocal set are we talking about?

I mentioned before how one of the guards' sneezes sounds like it was quite 'tinny', don't know the actual vocal but I heard it again yesterday while playing 'Special Delivery'. I think the guard who patrols around the metal walkway had a case of it. Haven't heard a cough sound like this though, but now I'm gonna pay extra attention so I can hear that sexy raspy Selma cough. Mmmm. laugh.gif

Edit: If I'm correct about this particular guard, his vocal set is _simpleton_guard_01. Will try confirm this is the actual guard I heard.

There is only one sneeze shader...I'll happily replace that 'tinny' sneeze if someone would like to record some.

Yes, that's true - but not distractingly so. I think it's probably the same actor. I just typed 'cough' in the Windows search through all the oggs and listened to them all but none sound like the one I am hearing so maybe it does not have the word 'cough' in the name. I'll have to listen in-game and search for the actual guard and then look what voice he is using. I'm hearing it when I'm busy testing something else so this is just a distraction I've not had time to pursue.

I know this is a little off topic, but since we're on the topic of funny things that guards say or do, I laughed so hard when I heard this

"HORS DERT! ALL WERKED UP FOR NUTHING  " ..... why does he say horse dirt? shouldn't he have a filthy mouth because he's a common thug? what was wrong with 'horse shit'?

The original line was "horse shit" actually, but the actor thought "shit" sounded anachronistic and came up with various substitutes for that line and others. Some of them work, but that one always sounded a bit ridiculous to me.

I guess it does :/ I'd argue that so is the technology, but i guess it'd be kinda weird trying to justify the language by calling it steam punk :D

maybe "(sigh of relief) - all worked up for nothing" would be more fitting, or "(sigh of disappointment) - all worked up for nothing" since It's unlikely that you'd be that angry anyway, especially if everything was quiet again, they are probably more likely to relax and or sigh because of the lack of tension.

Anyway, whether or not you'd agree with that or not probably does matter since it hardly seems worthwhile getting everything out just to do one sentence.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
