A pretty interesting instrument. Looks very steampunk!

DrK's Rocksbourg series is one of the best T2 FM campaigns out there, especially the city parts. You can probably tell from the map. I recommend it.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Yes. It has been an almost painfully long seven years (!) since Ink and Dust, but DrK is determined to finish the series, and the next part - a prologue mission - is to be expected soon. :)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. With the caveat that the main quest chain in #1 is a 'read the FMA's mind' keyhunt affair. Don't let it put you off the whole series.

Some things I'm repeatedly thinking about...

Wow guys, thank you so much for all the advices!! :)

EDIT: Still got a question, so it seems you can only play A night in Rocksbourg 1 & 2 & 3 so far? 0, 4 and 5 are just "preview threads at TTLG" right?

Look at this corner stairway:

Relatively simple scene, but the meeting of the lighting and the polished wood is something special. Nothing overdone, just a great balance. You could build it in DarkRadiant, and people would love it.

Definitely. I've come to appreciate little nooks and crannies like this in the real world after being so conscious of space in game worlds. I really appreciate the little imperfections too, like the little bulges and gaps in wood, the way moss or mold can grow up walls, and the way seemingly-randomly strewed objects can have a hidden composition to them.

My mum linked some nice ambient stuff made by Alvin Lucier.

In his own words (1992): "Music on a Long Thin Wire is constructed as follows: the wire is extended across a large room, clamped to tables at both ends. The ends of the wire are connected to the loudspeaker terminals of a power amplifier placed under one of the tables. A sine wave oscillator is connected to the amplifier. A magnet straddles the wire at one end. Wooden bridges are inserted under the wire at both ends to which contact microphones are imbedded, routed to the stereo sound system. The microphones pick up the vibrations that the wire imparts to the bridges and are sent through the playback system. By varying the frequency and loudness of the oscillator, a rich variety of slides, frequency shifts, audible beats and other sonic phenomena may be produced."

However, Lucier admits a long thin wire is only used to impress, a short thin wire would have worked as well if not better, and he discovered that the best way to produce variation in the sonic phenomena was to pick a setting and leave the setup alone. He praised David Rosenboom for his ability to pick interesting settings. -Wikipedia

I knew somebody would build it, but didn't think it would take so little time!

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
