Your warnings about the Darkfate influx were disregarded

But I think those Darkfate kids are alright, they just need to "understand more" and a discussion like this will help sort things out.

(Plus, they will eventually upgrade to shiny new Geforce 4's so perhaps the perceptions will change with time... ;) )

Guys, what happened back then? Why did he go away in the first place?

A thread (don't even remember which one) got derailed and split into this. I know, still doesn't explain it, does it?

Now would you look at this, hard-thinking people from Darkfate (who have problems writing in Russian, let alone English) playing The Dark Mod on GeForce 2 have come here to criticize.

Well aren't you just a negative nancy! ohmy.gifbiggrin.gif

Just for my benefit (in case you were being serious), what exactly is wrong with criticism from darkfate members who were invited to come here to discuss their concerns?

Reminds me of the fairy tale of Rumpelstiltskin, where the gnome tore himself apart after not getting his way. There was nothing about necromancy in this tale, though. ^^

A game forum predominantly filled with posts from people wanting more falls in line with normal human behavior as far as its been my experience in these last 15 years of browsing game forums (and complaining).

Coincidentally 3 Russian (and maybe Ukrainian?) games, Flanker 2, Operation Flashpoint and Stalker, I just remembered complaining in their forums , they're some of my favorite games. I even begged the Producer of Flanker 2 to do something different than he was planning. I loved those games, Stalker 1.0 (with mods) being close to my favorite single player game, so its really out of an initial liking that people complain about TDM i'd say. The only game i see toping Stalker for me is Metro 2033, another Russian game??? :), which i haven't played yet.

Starting playing Metro 2033 a while ago and it is very STALKERish, but with much much better graphics. My only complaint so far is that it's sort of "STALKER on rails", quite literally.

Stalker: shadow of chernobyl? I am sorry, but what did you enjoy about that game? I bought it shortly after it was released and was bitterly disappointed, since it felt crappy (for me) in many fields. There were many good ideas, but everything just fell short. I could barely finish it, and normally I am quite a fps junkie: all half-lives, farcry, crysis, doom3, fear. Played them all through and had fun, but stalker somehow failed for me.

Or did the game later have some mods or patches which improved the game drastically? I still have it lying around, so maybe it deserves another go...

haven't you read on previous page admins post?

Alex, it sounds to me like nbohr1more was using sarcasm (or subtle humor if you wish). Note he said "upgrade to Geforec4" (which I found funny :) But maybe I missread him, too.

guys, dSpair is another troll from darkfate.ru, who canceled his account this year, and coming from time to time with new accounts to darkfate, and starts trolling, i would suggest you to ignore him. ;)

Who the hell are you? I don't know you. Get lost.

Lots of new insane kids on Darkfate these days, it seems.

And for others, don't listen to those dorks from that Russian fan page. Never saw such crazy people. Well, i can say that their web page is good, but that's the only thing i can prise. They didn't create a single mission for dark mod, but still judge it. And this prick, shadowhide, he created some block crappy fm and now dispute on atmosphere and etc in darkmod, what a jerk?

"The Kids are Alright" is a reference to an attitude portrayed by the rock musicians "The Who" about wild youth. It's a kind of admiration of the untamed. See: The Kids Are Alright (film)

It has become somewhat of a slang phrase for folks "in the know" but I suppose it's not so common world-wide. ^_^

(I thought "The Who" were still internationally acclaimed  )

Yes, upgrading to a Geforce 4 won't get you very far so that was also an attempt at humor.

I was trying to be a peace-maker or to lighten the mood. I guess there's still too much tinder ready to ignite

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
