Afternoon.

 

On my small contest map front, I have done all the basic build work (crypt, barracks, gnd/1st/2nd/3rd floors and outside) the map is based on a T2 beta mission that was never finished. The author gave me a copy of the latest version of the map and with his input I have tried to faithfully reconstruct the map to his original vision.

 

The build time thus far is 24hrs in 4x6hrs slots. I still don't know what season its supposed to be in at this point, winter is easy enough, but would prefer autumn but there isnt any resource for it (do we have falling leaves particle effect..?)

I don't believe so, though that would probably be easy enough for someone familiar with particles. There is a fallen leaves decal though.

I think I used a modified "blood drops" particle rather convincingly. Untextured, but it looks nice in my low lit areas at least.

Where are the REAL brits?! The one's we have are just brit-ish.

At the risk of being redundant:

 

1) We have no way to know if any entrant has made their mission using pre-existing architecture.

2) We know that different mappers will have different amounts of free-time to build.

 

Given those factors, I have no qualms about the "fairness" of offering an extension.

 

I only ask that any extension request be public and that other mappers be given the opportunity to continue adding to their mission until the last requested extension date.

 

Obviously, we don't want to have a situation where extensions keep being requested so the hard cut-off date for extension requests will be May 25th. The furthest requested extension date (within reason) made on the 25th will be the last day for valid contest submissions.

I make a good progress last day.Now I'm testing objectives while awating vocals from Mortem Desino

This will be a great competition with Jesps and Biker on board.

 

The roster of participants, is top-notch even if it's a little less than we'd like to see.

 

Hopefully Moneyobie will chime in?

 

What about Midnight, did you ever get any chance to work on your mission?

Regarding my map, I have done all the ar'd work - just placing all the Ai now... then to polish the readables.

Another small update, Most of the Ai and patrol routes have been placed. And unlike my previous Fm's it wont be that easy to get around. In fact its gonna be quite hard in places - he he he :ph34r: Gonna start polishing the readable's now and maybe knock up a briefing vid...

So if, Sotha's "Transaction" pushed much further into visual mastery...

 

Then perhaps this will be Biker's transcendent moment with game-play and AI mechanics?

 

(To artificially raise the stakes of the (competition \ rivalry) here :laugh: )

Sadly, I've only worked on the storyline so far, no real work in DR. I had hoped that I'd have the whole of May to work on this but it's looking like May is going to be just as busy as the last 2 months so I'm going to have to drop out of this current contest.

 

I may have a go at making this mission in future as I quite liked the simple story and theme I've got, but I have a couple other projects (non season related) that I'm more likely to get to first.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
