Hey FM, there is no reason to think I have any chance of winning. I have still gotta write the story yet... but suffice to say it will envolve, the builders, the undead, a collector and an artifact..

i hope there will be some scripted events and conversations instead of readables

Evening

Thought I would post some images of the part of the Haloween map, at this point though its gonna be touch and go if I get it sorted in time.. 3 weeks to go etc...

A crowd of fans in front of Biker's house:

- BIKER IS THE BEST!

- BIKER THE MASTER OF VISUALS!

- BIKER FOR PRESIDENT!

- WE LOVE YOU BIKER!

- MARRY ME!

Dude this looks stunning! (Where did you get the dragon statue?)

LOL, seriously though...

As per the mission rules were allowed to use prebuilt maps etc, these were original built by Flanders who graciously gave them to me to make use of them etc. You can thank him for the fab dragon statue, the awesome textures and the original layout.

What I have done so far is the merg all the mini maps into one big map, building new sections based on the other maps as I go. Then will have to flesh out the storyline as its all in my head atm, macking small changes to the map to suite as I go. Then get the map beta tested before for the deadline!

I like the marry me bit, but only if they are pretty, like motorbikes and play thief :D

I'm afraid I have some sad news for all of you.

The southbridge died on my laptop (No networking, no USB, no firewire, no sound card, crippled performance). I'll have to withdraw from the competition. :(

I'll eventually post some screenies of what might come in a future FM.

Edit: Holy dang, Bikerdude! :o Those are sweet!

Hey Biker, I'm sorry for being asshole but I want to tell you something :

All of your missions looks very good, but they felts empty for me.... World looks static,AI's is just a dolls for knock-out ect.... I'm sorry, but I think you should make your "worlds" more "alive",by placing little triggers that cause sounds,Make some simple scripted events like break of the glass windows ect

.

I can marry you.I'm pretty,I'm like motorbikes and Thief (hope you wont mind that I'm a male)

Ok allow me to edit it then:

- FLANDERS IS THE BEST!

- FLANDERS THE MASTER OF VISUALS!

- FLANDERS FOR PRESIDENT!

- WE LOVE YOU FLANDERS!

- MARRY ME!

But seriously good work with prefabs then, it looks amazing and Flanders - great models I wish I knew how to texture models nicely...

Biker I know that shadowhide is a... a... Nas... As... Oh! A DIFFERENT person and sometimes hard to get along with but what he is trying to tell this community(at least that's how I read his signals) is that the visuals, gameplay is already good but we have problems with INVOLVING stories and he has a point there. To get involved we need those hot small events. You already did some stuff towards such(alberics curse - breaking statue, breaking floor). I am awaiting a good, funny guards discussion! This stuff enhances the FM enjoyment by a mile! I was happy with every mission of yours so far and they are getting better and better so I believe SH soon will stop bitchin(and yes it is bad when you don't know how to do it Shadowhide). Just make those "Marry me" kinds jump out of their socks this Halloween. ;)

Scripting is something I dont know how to do yet, triggers I can do. I will see if I can put some in my halloween mission.

I'd like to make some little prefabs with scripted events for you if you want

Hopefully Toshiba will watch this and feel tortured for providing faulty hardware.

I can't be president, we only have a prime minister here. The rest is negotiable ;).

If you want to contribute to the community scripted prefabs we'd all be more than thrilled about it, really!

A lot of mappers just don't get scripting. I know I don't, I have a very basic understanding of it but to get any simple task done takes tons of trouble shooting/frustration.

Having a bank of prefabs (that if they work properly would be included in the base mod DL I'm sure) would help all mappers out a lot.

I can't really tell you specifics, really just any kinds of actions, interactions that can generically be applied to any mission are the best.

Dark is the sway that mows like a harvest

You cannot receive PMs. Could you please be so kind and check your mailbox if it is full (or maybe you switched off the function)?

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).

Well then, it's been about a week since I released my first FM and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by its reception. I had expected half as much interest in my short little FM as I received and even less when it came to positive feedback, but I am glad that the aspects of my mission that I put the most heart into were often the most appreciated. It was also delightful to read plenty of honest criticism and helpful feedback, as I've already been given plenty of useful pointers on improving my brushwork, level design, and gameplay difficulty.
I've gotten back into the groove of chipping away at my reading and game list, as well as the endless FM catalogue here, but I may very well try my hand at the 15th anniversary contest should it materialize. That is assuming my eyes are ready for a few more months of Dark Radiant's bright interface while burning the midnight oil, of course!
