A (really) free blog plataform?

I want to finally create my own blog to collect information about free knowledge and projects in architecture. I know a bunch of well-known blogs in the field that go for Google/Blogger, and I've also heard about Wordpress, but both of them include advertisement and I have this thing against ads, would rather choose a plataform free of them entirely. Is there really a ad-free blog provider around?

EDIT: I've been browsing wordpress blogs and I can't spot any ads, they do mention they only appear sometimes, does anyone here has an account there and can tell me more?

I have a Wordpress blog, and I think I once saw some adverts when viewing only a single post (not viewing from the main page). Then again, like most people (I assume) I am using ad-blocking browser extensions so for all I know the site could be littered with ads that I never see.

EDIT: Nope, just tested with Adblock disabled and I still didn't see any ads. Perhaps they only put ads on blogs which get enough readers for it to actually be worthwhile.

tumblr seems ad-free since the begining.

I get the impression though that Tumblr is considered "micro-blogging", more like twitter, rather than a platform for serious writing. Certainly the content I have seen on there has been very much the impulsive, quick-and-dirty style of posting rather than the essays and articles you expect on a regular blog.

Actually it would be more like a portfolio kind of place, and I would also like analyse and collect open projects like competition winners and that kind of stuff, so I do need a more complex page than microblogs. I was pretty much going for wordpress, but then the ad thing got me a bit worried, it's true that I also forgot I have adblock, I'll browse it a bit more without it and see if it's not too intrusive like you say Orbweaver. Thanks for the tips, guys.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
