About to sell a laptop from 2002 for $25.

I just want advice. Am I selling this thing too cheap? It has a northwood P4 core at 2.53 GHz, and 512 megs of RAM. Both RAM slots are full and it has a 40 GB hard drive. It plays DVDs and writes CDs, and the OS is XP home. The keyboard is entirely intact and the machine is in great condition for being so old. The battery lasts about 15 minutes. The hinges on lid, etc are fine. It just runs loud and hot, like a vacuum cleaner. I have too much useless crap sitting around here and I doubt I would ever use this again because I have a few other (better) laptops. (netbook and the dual-core)

This old thing only has USB 1.1, which totally sucks, and it has a first-gen Radeon chip. I'll bet a raspberry pi could whoop this laptop's butt in a game of Quake 3 any day.

Advice? Of course it has no wireless, but I would throw in a PCMCIA card for free for the guy, and maybe sell him a case for an extra $15.

That's about the price I would pay on Ebay for something like that. If you're selling this thing face-to-face instead of online, you could get away with charging a wee bit more just because I would pay a little more for the convenience of the transaction.

Personally, If I were to come across a laptop like that, or a Raspberry Pi, I would just make it a media server on my home LAN.

Take $28. And no less. And no more (see below).

Be staunch. Be stolid. Be stick-to-itive. If you take just $25 I guarantee you it will be something you will regret for the rest of your life.

Start the bidding at $29. And then knock off $.50. And then, even if he doesn't ask for it, knock down another $.50. You will have made a wonderful deal AND you will have made friend for life!

Yeah, it is a guy who lives below me. He doesn't currently have a computer at all, but he is taking some computer classes at a college apparently. I guess something like this that still works fine and can get online is miles better than having nothing at all.

The guy let me borrow some tools once or twice while I was building stuff.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
