DarkRadiant 1.8.1 pre-release Test

Recommended Posts

Ooo, could that be made available to us to use/test? It's been a pain deleting everything in the map except what you want to export, then save that as a map file to deal with separately. I've just been skipping prefabbing things this past month. But working around that hasn't been too bad for working with patches.

Here's the pre5 build: x64: http://ftp.thedarkmod.com/darkradiant/darkradiant-1.8.1pre5-x64.exe

Important: you'll need to install the VC++ 2012 Redistributables from here: http://www.microsoft...s.aspx?id=30679 (click download, then choose the VSU_4\vcredist_x64.exe one)

There is a build from Jan 11th posted a page back, this is lacking one or two commits from github, that's all:

Tried it - breaks maps.

I'll investigate more. Maybe dmap went nuts from someone's commit :/

EDIT: Yep, I knew it couldn't be DR.. All works.

EDIT2: Just noticed new "AI" tab. Pretty cool idea. How hard would it be to tweak it for another game? (so I could tweak it)

Using the Objective's "Objective Conditions" editor, I noticed two problems I'd like to know if others might confirm prior to bug reporting.

1) No scrollbar when number of conditions exceeds display (conditions become inaccessible/not visible).

2) Numerical condition fields do not response to ENTER key, only by clicking tiny arrows to increment/decrement.

In the case of #1, the workaround is to resize the window larger, but screen size limits it and I have over a dozen condtions. (Edit, can click in the window and use cursor keys to scroll up/down to see those offscreen, so just counter-intuitive to how other panels in DR function.)

In the case of #2, the workaround is to enter 14 and then click the up arrow, or 16 and click the down arrow, if you enter the actual number, 15 and press enter, it remains at 1.

So can someone please explain how to tweak AI panel in DR ?

The AI panel is a GUI supported by C++ code, so you can't easily "tweak" it. If you're not a coder, you're probably out of luck, unless you find somebody from your team or forums who might be willing to invest time in a custom plugin?

I once though it might be possible to do that kind of dialog in Python, but I haven't actually investigated that option. There might be one or two things missing to pull that off, and still there will be some Python scripting skills required to change the dialog to fit your needs.

With "you guys" you are referring basically to me, I'm afraid. ;)

My time is rather limited these days, and whenever I can find some 15 minutes to work on DarkRadiant, I'm trying to fix bugs or work on the wxWidgets port. I apologise, but I can't really help you there, someone else needs to fill in.

  • 3 weeks later...

No crash here, and I kept it up and running from when I downloaded until a couple days ago, so over a couple weeks (I hibernate my laptop to avoid rebooting).

Per searching, although I already noted the tracker, I didn't see any info on the wiki about simply typing to pop up the search box (although it's been mentioned in the forums), so added: http://wiki.thedarkmod.com/index.php?title=DarkRadiant_Tips_and_Tricks#Searching

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
