Just bought a game key: WTF!

So..

 

I bought a game key for a "certain PC game" on Saturday evening, tried registering the ley on steam but got the pop-up saying it was invalid.

 

Fast foward to today where after emailing the site I bought the key from I get informed its AMD redeam code, not a steam code.

 

My question is, is this ethical or even legal for that matter? dont get me wrong I dont really care where I get the key from as long as its legit, but if they are trying to pull a fast one I am glad I bought it on my Credit card instead of my debit card as am covered for any BS with stuff bought online.

Need more info. Who did you buy the code from? How did they present or advertise it? Did they falsify info or mislead you in any way?

 

Also, what do you mean by a "AMD redeem code?" I got some codes from AMD for 3 games when I bought my last video card, and I was able to get them registered on Steam.

This is exactly what it is, but the code I purchased is coming up as invalid, fuckers are now asking for screenshots. If I dont get a replacement key by tomorow I will simply inform my CC visa chargebacks dept.

You bought the AMD code from someone other than AMD? That in itself sound fishy. Usually AMD will give you the code because you purchased something from them. I wouldn't think anyone should be reselling those things.

 

What site was it, so we all know for future reference?

A friend of mine bought Thief via the AMD redemption offer and everything worked fine for him however acquiring it via that method means that you miss out on the free bank heist DLC (I found that out after reading through AMD's Ts&Cs).

 

 

So my recommendation if you want Thief legally for a cheap price AND you want the included Bank Heist DLC is to goto cdkeys.com (link below). I paid 14.96£ or about 19€ and if you like their facebook page they give you a 5% discount voucher as well so it's even cheaper.

 

 

These guys will give you a key that activates on steam close to or on the 28th and you get the bank heist DLC as well, it's a bargain! :) I also looked them up online and they seem very legit with no bullshit plus they have just shy of 60,000 facebook likes so I don't think they will rip you off.

I did try and buy from them but they don't take card payments to thier PP account anymore. And after I complained about it I got some BS about PP not taking CC payments, which is just the lamest BS exsuce I've heard in a while.

 

Damn thats weird.. I used paypal but I used funds that were already in my account so I guess thats why I didn't hit that wall.

 

On their site they still show you can pay with CC via paypal too which is odd.

 

The only other website that I know of that is selling the game for a really cheap price (and I have used their services multiple times so I know they're legit) is Kinguin

@BD: sorry for the bad experience with buying a gamekey <_< /btw. sometimes you have to generate the proper key with the key you received from the store. I got the same with my AC-Black flag UBI-key from NVIDIA.

possibly AMD uses a similar procedure?

 

my favorite gamekeystores are: gameladen.com, gamekeyzone.de, mmoga.com // never had any prob`s with one of them

 

@SeriousToni: I think it`s clear that Thi4f isn`t worth ~50 bucks.

But it`s worth 19€ for having something we can all laugh about and say:

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
