"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

Nice, indeed.

So Efe Tozan is your real name and Falanga your alias. Just asking as it is a bit confusing.

I think everything of such quality is welcome. There are various things I think we may need.

  1. More themes for the builders.
  2. Themes for the pagans.
  3. As we have Moors now, it would be nice to have ambient music for them, although Springheel or so would have to point out their background so you get an idea what they are about (didn't follow the related discussions too closely).
  4. Something for our inventors. Steampunk like, but not too futuristic.
  5. Anything else.

Maybe other things. The other team members may be more helpful here, as I can't decide what goes into the mod on my own. The only premise would be that it is for free, though. ;)

Very nice! :D
I've added your suggestions to my list in my thread here Obsttorte.

I've listened to your tracks and I like quite many of them, but you would probably have to practice more ambient stuff at first. Your tracks are usually closer to more orchestral or instrument-heavy music. You seem to know your stuff, though, so feel free to offer us help if you start work on something that could fit TDM. Seconded.

I would say any sound for TDM is appreciated.

Every little bit helps. Very excited about how this goes.

Well, I told him that we are a free project, where everybody is working for free. I thought that is obvious.

However, I also told him to talk to Springheel if he wants to get paid for it. If enough people think the quality is good enough to pay for it, he may get what he wants.

I also told him that due to our licence everything he adds to TDM would be freely reusable by others, either for comercial or non-comercial usage, which I think is the point at which he lost his interest :P

If we start paying people now for working on the mod then we first should pay all of the devs for the years of work they did on this (including you of course) instead of some random guy who came here just for collecting money.

I'd have told him to talk to the hand, myself.

As SeriousToni said, this mod is the product of probably tens of thousands of man-hours all contributed for free. I doubt we're going to start handing out money to special snowflakes who think they need to be paid for composing a few ambients.

I agree with you both. I said he should talk to Springheel as I don't see myself in the position of making such decisions, that's it.

I think the fact that we are doing this for free is something that highly improves the quality of TDM, as the only reason spending time on this project is to improve it, nothing else. We are in a much better position then game studios in that regard :)

Indeed. It also avoids a lot of difficult questions that would arise under a commercial model, such as whether a modeller should be paid more or less than a coder, or whether we can use assets distributed under a non-commercial-only licence. It's best not to involve money except for isolated administrative tasks that don't affect the creative content, such as taking donations for server hosting when necessary.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
