Fan Art Repository

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Ive been meaning to post this for a while now. I think we have wonderful work done in terms of mission and their storylines, even some solid background story supporting the game, but we seem to be lacking art, what we would call fan art! By that I mean those works that are inspired by the missions we see in this universe, but also (and most importantly, for me) those that aim to inspire authors, to flesh out the fantasy, picturing moments that help building the world as it could be imagined.

It's me, your old pal RPGista - but for art stuff, I'm calling myself Arm, or ARM (for whatever reason). I would like to start with this piece, for which I drew a lot from the original Conan lore, and also the cover arts (the vintage marvel editions).

This one is a bit rough but it was interesting to try to nail down several techniques at once, use of references mixed with on the fly anatomy, 3 shades technique, how to work with background (which was done separetly, as you can see) and try to make it work with the first plane.

I'll post this in decent quality, let me know if for budget reasons, you would like me to link to some exterior host instead (its below 500K).

Attention: there's nudity in it, both male and female, if you are offended by that sort of thing.

It's true we could use fan art. I was just posting about that a few days ago. Cheers for getting the ball rolling.

Ok here's another one. Went for darker tones this time, more shadows, again mixing conventional painting with image editing techiniques.

I noticed when I set mine last year, it didn't work until I downsized the image to about 200px. Too big and it fails silently.

And the last one plus my current "Work in Progress" (which reminds me that we need dragons in TDM) :)

Yeah, I remember these! I love the use of real architecture (and portraits), each as a symbol of different settings tdm adventures might take place. I would say my favourites are the castle one (just like that building) and the pagan woman in the forest one (it just works quite well, the smile, the tatoos, the light is unified). The creepiest is the priest one hehe.

PS: We NEED dragons in tdm for sure! :D That picture is looking real good, the dragon itself is really nice, also like the look on the human figures. I think you just need to balance the colors, and its pretty much finished in my eyes.

Thank you :)

Will you also post your mission briefing pictures? The humans and the style were pretty decent!

Yes I'm still figuring out what the dragon picture needs. I tried already let it spit fire in front of the picture but I like it more without, when you only see his head rushing into the scene and his breath reaching onto the humans which creates more tension than the classical fire spit. I need to work mostly on the humans I think (like you suggested too) because they look out of place. Thank you for the feedback ;)

Nah, they were done for the briefing, I'll only be posting fan art here. Hopefully more people will post their stuff as well.

A nice avatar picture (to mee) is a must, as I can't remember names for the sake of my life and I need the small pictures to remind myself to whom I'm talking to. People who change their avatars all of a sudden are always confusing me. It took months until I realized "the guy with the red beard" was actually "the guy with the hat and the funny laugh" (NewHorizon)...

Back to topic, I recalled I made some "Fanart" years and years ago for TDM (wallpapers) and a promotional poster for TDM 2.0:

That first one is that a WIP or just picture? Looks great

Since I've been asked to reupload the images in a higher quality for desktop wallpapers I searched my HDD and uploaded them in two different sizes. You can download the files separately or as a zipped bundle here:

Hey ST, would you be interested in making a loading screen..?

I made this out from an FM screenshot if I remember correctly, but I don't know the mission anymore. But thanks! :)

Hey ST, would you be interested in making a loading screen..?

My time is very limited these days sadly :( but I'll see what I can do if you could send me a PM with some informations :)

Is including some of these as random loading screens (for maps that don't provide their own) or menu backgrounds an idea that's been considered? New paintings would be a good idea too! If the authors can release them under the CC-BY-SA, they could benefit the mainstream project nicely.

Good point there, I never considered this. Anyway, normally every map should have their own custom loading screen, so we would not need random loading screens. And for the paintings I am not sure what the art director says about this :D

I like the idea of more people using ST's wallpapers as "loading" screenshots, they do a good job as imagination appetizers.

Haha looks like I'll finally get the promotion for the loading screen specialist application.

Thank you guys a lot for the positive feedback btw. I really appreciate it :)
