Alpha Protocol

Destined

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

this game was recommended to me by a friend recently. Has anyone experience with the game? The trailer on Steam makes it seem a bit too action biased, but it still look quite interesting... Also it is developed by Obsidian Entertainment, which is generally a plus, but still I am not wuite sure if I should get it
.

Any thoughts?

Alpha Protocol is a good RPG, an okay stealth game, and a generally eh PC port (bring a gamepad or don't purchase the game).

The whole thing as a story and narrative is structured around the idea of being a sociopath, manipulating people to either like you or hate you, giving you different branches and, if you know what you're doing, better or worse perks in the field if they're your handler.

It's a really good game with really good writing, but it definitely isn't for everyone, and I have to take points off for the sense of actual balance (stealth + pistol build = overpowered as hell in a handbasket), but I would definitely recommend it around the $10 or less mark, especially if on sale.

I like to record difficult stealth games, and right now you wonderful people are the only ones delivering on that front.

Click here for the crappy channel where that happens.

Unfortuntaley, the stealth dynamics don't work very good... when i played it, and tried a stealth approach, it never was clear whether, and why someone saw you, so it was kind of trial and error, where you'd really want to be able to rely on it. The game itself wasn't really so special either, neither graphics (very ugly animations...) nor gameplay wise. It was one of the games i was eagerly awaiting, but when i actually played it, i was disapointed. If you haven't done so, rather play one of the Deus Ex parts, that's much more stealth/agent RPG action than this one.

Hello everyone.

I have played the game, and I enjoy it. Alpha Protocolo I would say it's an RPG with soothing elements, sadly of course in PS3 the graphics aren't that espectacular, but a game I can say play it. Have good writting and some interesting characters. I woudl say that te options the game offer you to approch characters works well.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
