Has anyone played this - 'Inside'

Inside is a great, both as a very clever platformer and for the excellent atmosphere & visual storytelling.

And then trying to interpret what's happening is really interesting to think about.

It's not replayable in the sense that once you've figured out the puzzles then it's just a matter of mechanically doing the platforming, since you know what to do. But I actually like to replay it. It's not like an adventure game; it still has gameplay and it can be pretty zen to just run through it. I've replayed it about 4 or 5 times at least and still liked it.

But for what it's worth, it really is very clever with the set ups. There's always a way forward, no matter how bewildering it seems at first. So even if you only just care about cracking the puzzles it's really fun.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Story-wise, Limbo is completely different. They only share the rough idea of an artistic & naturalistic platformer. Inside is also much, much better. Limbo is still a nice platformer, so it's still worth doing someday, but if you play one it should be Inside & no need to play Limbo first.

I haven't finished Limbo, I remember the puzzle design had a "nasty dungeon master syndrome". I felt punished for something I couldn't know more often than not.

Inside is nowhere like that. It's much more organic, refined, and seamless experience, not just a platformer with puzzles. If you have a thing for Half Life 2 aesthetics, you'll love it. The weird, uncomfortable ending alone is worth it.

Limbo has a great athmosphere and art style and provides solid gameplay. There are some frutrating parts, but overall I've enjoyed playing it. If it is on sale then it is definetely worth grabbing it.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
