Problem with 2.07? - Some level unplayable

Hello.

Since update to 2.07 i´ve played the missions from a to b. I haven´t played all, but i noticed some really strange behavior, which it makes it nearly impossible to play a few levels. I play all levels on hard.

 

Alberiques Curse-

The golden book falls through the floor. You can still grab it, but it is "invisible". If you play the level for the first time, it is impossible to get it.

For try i restarted the mission and rushed there. In front of me the book fall through the bottom of the altar.

 

King of Diamonds-

Two hard crashes. Hard restart from pc. To get in the attic you need a key. One of the main characters wears it. Normally the guy walks through his house. But at my play he was stuck between the chair and the desk in his attic-room. Oh dear. I had noticed via noclip. So, it makes it unplayable. The missionobjective can´t be solved.

I retried it several times and the result remains the same. The guy is running at one spot between his furniture.

 

Full Moon Fever -

This isn´t really a problem, but it´s not good for your ears. Several levels have this. It´s a a sound problem, maybe bug. You hear close to special light spots a sinus-sound. I own a creative SB Recon 3D PCIe, latest driver, win 7. Better gameplay on my laptop, no disturbing sounds.

And on some situations, there are Biep-sound. When an object is "hopping" above the ground. Or a door is opened. Not really annoying, but striking.

 

Many other levels run fine. Few crashes sometimes.

I can´t tell what makes that trouble. It could be that "frob" problem again. In most every level objects are falling half the way into the ground. People get stuck. I can´t really tell, but on my opinion, it worked better on 2.05 and 2.06 ...

I made a clean installation of the game and made no changes in the adjustments. Except screen resolution and gamma correction.

 

What´s your experience? What do you think? Solutions?

we need content from some logs.

is there a darkmod.log in your tdm folder?

we want so see that content.

 

to create more logs, start tdm with some arguments.

for starters:

we need some from tdm, about your system

thedarkmod.exe +condump mylog.txt +quit

this starts tdm, generate a log and quits.

please copy the content of the mylog.txt in a spoiler-forumtag.

Please provide:

1) Contents of darkmod.cfg.

2) Contents of condump: e.g. execute condump bugoga in game console and find bugoga-named file afterwards.

 

If you experience crashes, it may be really helpful if you save a memory dump as described here.

In this case we will be able to see where exactly TDM crashes in the code.

The beep plays on missing sound files if s_playDefaultFile cvar is 1.

Set it to 0 and beeps will go away.

This cvar was intended only for mappers/developers, I don't know why many players got it.

I've also noticed the beep sound from certain electric lights in 2.07. That usually happens if a sound file is missing, like stgatilov said, or if the sound file is not in the correct 44100 hz range for instance. I'm wondering if a few sound files disappeared in 2.07. I also noticed it recently when damaging breakable glass.

SO far I had done Removed TMD and install Fresh Update 2.07 almost all missions is unplayable ...

I see people haven't done what you had said so here's my part ..... attached mylog :)I know not everyone has same part so I know y'all can assist me on this part :)

Almost all missions is smooth, some lagging so i made adjustment in setting ... only done multicore enchancement and been using it til this update happened i couldnt adjust to make it work it keeps crashing every time i load up missions.

First try disabling GLSL:

 

r_useGLSL 0

 

r_useFBO 0

 

Then, let's first try disabling fence sync:

 

r_useFenceSync 0

 

If that still produces bad results, disable multi-core.

Probably just an incompatibility between openal and creative drivers

Doubt it has anything to do with video settings

No but he says about beeps that were not happening in prior versions. The creative hardware is known to outlive its driver support.

Since updating to 2.07, I've taken a break from mapping and decided to do some playing again.

I am playing every mission in TDM (plus some new ones I've never seen before) and have noticed several so far have (what appear to my failing memory, at least) to be some errors that were not there before.

These might range from physics, lighting, objects, textures, brushwork, other occult mysteries...

I'm doing it in alphabetical order.
It'll take some time... you know I like to play no light gem, no save, hardest everything, 100% complete - but I'll make a list outside of the map's threads (some of which had not been posted in for donkey's) when suitable "chuncks" are completed.

Fine / Not Fine.

(with alberic's curse - did you also notice the missing textures in the ceilings? I put a screenshot in the FM thread? I also noticed the other things you mentioned (plus others, such as with the ghost and some AI glitches, but they are not "bugs" - they are me breaking the game).

in King of Chairs - that event happens maybe 1 in 10 times and it is one reason I call it the king of chairs - I haven't played that yet, but will see if it is happening more than before.


This is another reason why it'd be good to have a repository of builds that are available, 2.04, 2.05, 2.06, etc... as well as forcing everyone to catch a new bug through a sneeze-update - idk if there can be a self-extracting package of the bare-bones made for each version - I'll archive them, if I've space, but they'll be FTP not HTTP dl.

Hello, I'm a new member of this forum.

First, I wanted to said thank you, to the builders, the team, the authors and the admins for making all this possible for playing the dark mod with so many episodes !
I discovered the game in 2015, and I'm thrilled of it.

 

Sorry, for my broken english, I'm from germany.

 

Up to version 2.05 everything ran wonderfully.
Since version 2.06 my problems started. Since then, some level having bugs and CTD's.
When you released version 2.07, there are only a few levels left that work.

 

I think you have until now 130 Missions.

Only 20 % are running now on my Pc.

Further 20% are running, when I start, after a ctd the mission once more.

And 60% always had a ctd.at the loading point of 35%.

 

My Pc is a 3300 Intel 32 bit , with a AMD/ATi Radeon card.

At first I thought my computer was broken. But I have a racing simulation studio with 6 seats and more powerful graphics cards (all with AMD's) I noticed that the same error occurs there.

 

But I need these cards, because all my racing simulations want to run with Direct 3D and not with Open GL.
So far I have played with Open GL, games absulut no problems. Also Thief 4 runs very fast.

 

Now I read here in this forum, that other gamers with AMD cards are having same problems.

I don't having problems with lights.

I tried older drivers, deleted my config file, and used the 2.07 Hotfix, but nothing helps ?

 

No help is expected from AMD because TDM is a free game.

 

It is possible, to set my game, to a 2.05 version back?

I won't be able to play new missions anymore, but the rest would work again.

What AMD GPU do you have? I use a full AMD system CPU ( Ryzen 1800X ) and GPU (RX 570) and now after the hotfix I don't seem to have problems, I don't play has much as I used to tho, so perhaps I just got lucky and played the missions that worked fine, what mission has CTD's for you?

The computer I've been playing TDM on for the last few years, has an
AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series card with 2 GB Ram

 

The others are equipped with AMD Radeon R7-200 Series with 4 GB Ram.
But the result is always the same

Holy hell that many!

 

I tried "Tears of Saint.Lucia" and add no ctd's but i did noticed one thing that I didn't noticed before, the skybox was pitch black! I saw it because the water puddles reflected a starry night and I looked up and saw black. So i take back what I said about having no problems.

 

Also this is more a suggestion when the intro for this mission starts, after some time, a tip could show telling the player how to skip it, telling him to use the action button, why, because I tried to skip with ESC and add to start the mission again. :P

A new job worked fine including the skybox. :huh:

 

The same with the training mission no ctd's skybox works fine...

 

Ok based on this that seems to be a problem with the skybox material used on Tears of Saint.Lucia.

Let's start with setting:

seta r_useFBO "1"

I would suggest a config reset.

Rename darkmod.cfg to something like darkmod_old.cfg and restart TDM.

Also, it would be helpful if you can share a crashdump for a crash while loading e.g. New Job.
