Hi all, I finally found some time again to continue my WIP and think I found a bug in DR: When I turn on the filter for Visportals all nodraw textures are filtered out as well. Has this been observed by others as well? I presume this is because the visportal brush contains five nodraw faces. I am not sure if it is possible to distinguish between the two types of nodraw and thus if there is a solution for this problem. It is no major bug, but I was confused at first, when I turned off the nodraw filter, but my brush still did not appear. Turning off all filters and testing each led me to the visportal filter being the culprit.

The Visportals filter rule explicitly hides nodraw textures:

      <filter name="Visportals">
         <filterCriterion type="texture" match="textures/editor/visportal" action="hide" />
         <filterCriterion type="texture" match="textures/common/nodraw" action="hide" />
      </filter>

I don't recall if this is just for convenience or if not including nodraw textures leaves the five non-visportal faces of the brush visible.

Well, it makes sense that nodraw is also filtered. I just thought I remembered that it was different some time ago. But it is highly likely that I simply had no nodraw brushes at the time and did not notice...

As there doesn't seem to be a simple solution, just ignore my complaint.

Well, this would filter out only the visportal face of the brushes, so it would not make the map that much easier to browse. I will just have to remember that nodraw brushes are filtered out as well. I was just concerned that otheres (especially newbies) would get confused as well, where their nodraw brushes went / why they cannot edit them after creating. Maybe we could rename the filter to something like "Visportals (including nodraw)" to avoid said confusion. It is what I will do for myself, at least.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
