Images For The Project

I'm in France at the moment, near Lyon. Today I visited Vichy, a beautiful city despite its ugly history.

I have great pictures of the architecture, I'm particularly proud of a picture of a nice tiled floor (in fact from a catholic school) face on, maybe good enough for textures, **shrug** I'm no expert, and would like to give them to the team or the beta mappers to study for inspiration, resources.

I can't upload them off the digicam till next weekend, but when I do who wants them?

Take as many high resolution pictures as you can of old and/or finely crafted stone, tiles,

walls, ceilings, etc. This will all be extremely useful for TDM. :) E-mail them to the

TDM team (even if it takes 20 e-mails to handle all the large file attachments).

Hopefully you have many extra memory cards to allow the saving of many pictures. :)

Yes!

Well, no.

At least, it's not planned yet, and would require quite a large amount of time to maintain and update (let alone program and design). That's if you mean some sort of online database.

If it's just a public ftp server, then perhaps.

But on the other hand, I'm sure the traditional Thief landlords, epithumia (thiefmissions.com) and KOMAG (keepofmetalandgold.com) will be willing to lend a hand.

Well they are 3MP, so I can fit lots in, out of a max res of 5MP, not sure how that quality will look. Got about 90 photos of that size left, but I'm not using them all for TDM. 256MB cqard. I'll go to Lyon Wednesday I think, lots of lovely stuff there.

Pleased to be of service. I thought you might have that sort of stuff already. In fact you must all live in dull places. :P

Messages are simple as French keyboard's are rubbish, keys moved round? esp. all punctuation. Learning to touch type though.

AZERTY keyboard you see. Wiki it.

Day in Lyon today. Took lots of great photos of stuff. Inc. lots of a 1700-1800 cathedral, so quite modern, but in the classical style with loads of gold leaf and tiles inside, whereas the very old cathedrals just have unpainted interiors; the paint has long gone.

There are overviews of architecture, but I've also done little details, especially floors, which can be used to make textures.

Ah.

No-one allows 179MB rar files to be sent over email...

Some kind of upload fpt online service???

Dunno if you solved ithis Bob but try yousendit.com or one of the similar services, you might have to split it into several archives though as they typically require you to pay for anything > 100mb

You say effort, I couldn't be arsed last night, and forgot this morning. I'll do it sometime. You guys aren't exactly waiting on it, you've got quite a lot of things to do still. :P

But yeah, no problem. If you like 'em or use 'em you could bung me at the end of the credits, in the dogsbody section.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
