I Have A Quest?

The only thing you can't do is to enable additional features that we implemented. If you know the keywords it might even be able to set them in many cases, but some things would not work. But loading a map from Doom should work as long as you don't include AI, because we had to change them.

If you create only the geometry there is no problem.

So you can't have D3 AI in DarkMod at all?

Not that I'm dying to have mindless demons in DM or whatever, but I was under the impression that it was like a oneway street, all D3 assets could basically be thrown into DM but not vice versa. But I gather it's a lot more nuanced than that.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

TDM AI are far more advanced than D3 AI. D3 AI would basically only know how to pathfind around and maybe attack or not in a beeline - they wouldn't pay attention to sound prop, light and shadow, maybe not touch (I'm not sure on that one). They wouldn't know what to do with TDM doors, TDM specific triggers, have no alert states... the list is long.

So, for anything that has any awareness of the gameplay space at all, they'd be worthless. Maybe only for those silly bugs that walked around the streets in TDS. :) (though I think those might have had senses)

Touch and light would work, but soundprop of course not, and other features as well not, like searching. I'm not sure about the ligh, I think there is a hack for the torch light, so that might not work either, because the torch is not included in TDM. :)

And most of the Ai wouldn't really fit in the TDM setting anyway. You might use the monsters for distractions, but human AI would at least need a new skin at minimum.

You can throw them in there, but they'll act exactly like D3 monsters. In other words, you won't be able to hide from them in shadows, KO them with the blackjack or gas arrow, etc. It's not a huge amount of work to make transfer them over, however, if you know anything about def files.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
