@oddity: Debate About Human Vs. Animal Superiority

Well, can you eat a whole seal?

Neither can a geopard do this. Comparisons between animals are pretty useless, especially when you don't even tell what features you compare. Animals are adapated to their environment, so saying that an eagle is better then a whale, because a whale can not see a mouse from 3 kilometers up in the air, then first show me a whale who is travelling 3 kilometers in the air before I grant you that you are right. ;)

The reason I said @oDDity was because a while back he was stating that humans are the ultimate creature, etc etc, so I thought I could use that debate as a pretext for posting the link. Also the style of this clip reminded me of things oDDity might say... "Penguins mate for life. You probably don't even have a girlfriend or a boyfriend. Penguins are happier than you. And they're better than you."

The intent of posting this isn't to start another animal comparison argument. I just thought it was a funny video.

I guess viewing it at work without any sound probably wasn't the best way to appreciate the humour, I'll admit.

Still, some of those definitions of "better" are rather tenuous. I certainly don't want to live 250 years, I've never felt any inclination to eat a seal, and with no boyfriend or girlfriend my penis-size-to-body-ratio is of little material significance.

It would be cool to be able to run like a cheetah though.

Greebo had this once. It was because he wrote "gplusplus" into the post.

Yes, G ++ does it for me as well.

Presumably Apache is checking for the command because hackers might want to compile a program on the remote system in order to exploit it.

You cannot receive PMs. Could you please be so kind and check your mailbox if it is full (or maybe you switched off the function)?

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).

Well then, it's been about a week since I released my first FM and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by its reception. I had expected half as much interest in my short little FM as I received and even less when it came to positive feedback, but I am glad that the aspects of my mission that I put the most heart into were often the most appreciated. It was also delightful to read plenty of honest criticism and helpful feedback, as I've already been given plenty of useful pointers on improving my brushwork, level design, and gameplay difficulty.
I've gotten back into the groove of chipping away at my reading and game list, as well as the endless FM catalogue here, but I may very well try my hand at the 15th anniversary contest should it materialize. That is assuming my eyes are ready for a few more months of Dark Radiant's bright interface while burning the midnight oil, of course!
