That looks pretty sweet

QuakeCon looks sweet. Can't tell if it's 100% racing or a fighting/racing game but l0ooks really cool. I was thinking it would be cool to have kindof a Mad Max racing game. That's not quite the same but sorta.

oh my, that looks like so much fun.

In one of my better pipe-dreams, I dream of some online clearinghouse of all this tech, where you can pick and choose which editor tools you want with which content and which game mechanics. Maybe our grandkids' generation will be so lucky. For now I just wish this set-up were available with a game I'd like to actually use them with.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

demagogue,

Have you checked out the Ogre Renderer? Most of the stuff isn't that sweet but you have alot of choices. There's one engine I'm gonna check out but most of the stuff you have to know how to compile and how to write code. There are some pretty cool tools being made for it.

I'd like to start some little indie game but would need someone to do the programming and hold my hand alot.

Well, if they open sourced it. lol Otherwise, nope...you wouldn't have access to all our customized stuff that exists in Dark Radiant.

They are notorius for being so open with their source. Wasn't that one of the reasons you went with an iD engine over the competition?

We're willing to wait for you ;)

Well, lets see...when is rage being released? I'm guessing if it was open sourced by 2014, you might see a port by 2016....2017? In any case, I'm sure the open sourced Doom 3 engine will have been updated, tweaked, and toned to do much of what Rage does by then anyway. :)

By 2017 I'll be too busy operating my flying car and backyard fusion reactor to bother with silly games that don't take full advantage of direct neural interfaces. :)

Isn't that what they said in 1958?

You mean regarding 1967? Seriously though, I wonder what the 1958 "preditions" for a decade after that were and how close any were.

I remember reading some science article back in 1995 about "bio-data-storage" being a reality within 10 years and could store multi-terrabytes on a "drive" about one cubic centimeter. Woops, guess they didn't have that one right.

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
