Terminator Salvation gameplay

I liked 40% of the movie Terminator Salvation quite a bit, particualarly the first half, up to the giant Harvester mech/robot/whatever scene. Too bad the game is 3rd person, which is a show-stopper for me. Nor does it have a sneak gameplay element, which i'd love to see. The graphics are really good for the most part and I love the environments, again, for the most part. So although i won't play this, i was able to enjoy all 21 videos of someones walkthrough, in HD. Make sure to click the HD button in the player if your connection can handle it. Quality sound effects and story also.

Always love burnt out skyscrapers.....

btw: if you watch this, what do you think the guy was doing zooming in all the time? Stealing textures?

Wow, what the hell? At first I was thinking it looks great. But within the first 18 seconds, the truth is revealed. It looks like a series of heavily scripted (see end especially) "mini-sequences" you play through one by one. Hit it again! You know, right when it flies to one of three designated spots where you can hit or miss, while you stand at one of two or three permitted 'standing positions'. Nice shooting John. Look out it's going to ram the building....... [right now, see!?]

Yuck, no thanks.

Oops, the title of my post is a little misleading. I completely agree that that kind of gameplay is crap, I wouldn't play the game if offered for free, but im able to get something out of watching the videos for some reason. I must be getting old... My Mom used to like watching me play through games like Half-life 1 and Quake 2... :D

This is my biggest complaint of modern games - they aren't actually games anymore, they're interactive movies. Dammit, I wanna think when I play games! And don't you dare give me a **Boss to fight! >_<

** I take exception to the "Bosses" in the Thief games because you don't directly fight them.

What do you expect from a movie tie-in game. Shoehorning the movies acts into a game is a recipe for failure. I don't know why most game companies simply take certain characters and the universe and make something of their own, ala Butcher Bay.

Most games made these days always seem to fail in one major aspect of their design, be it gameplay, execution of story (be it a simple or complex one), art direction, technical. Many fail in two or more categories.

That's not to say there are not quality games made these days. I just played through Dead Space, and it nailed the execution of its story, borrowing elements from The Thing/Event Horizon/System Shock 2. It was technically competent, using a holographic projection interface, and the art direction fit the setting using industrial space grunge. Yet I'd be hard pressed to say the gameplay was passable, it was limited and got repetitive as most shooters do.

Loose BOWELS are the first sign of THE CHOLERA MORBUS!

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
