Voice actors needed - details in beta topic: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19360-proofreading-and-voice-actors-needed-for-fm/?p=419500
I am now an official member of the Tinitus club, and It sucks. I have trouble sleeping on that side, because I hear faint "ringing" in the ear. Lower the volume before this happens to you too.
SothaI also have three small kids, and sometimes when they play too loudly indoors, I seek silence with industrial earmuffs. Good purchase, even though the wife disapproves, for some bizarre reason... =D

chakkmanOh yeah, cinemas... last time i went there, they turned the bass up to max, so it was BOOM BOOM BOOOOM!!! the whole time. Guess people need loud signals these days, otherwise they don't sense anything.

BienieI've had tinnitus for about 5 years now. I also got mine from a concert where I was dumb and didn't bring my earplugs. Shitty band too, such a waste. Anyway I was also freaking out about it in the beginning, but I took solace in the fact that it wasn't affecting my ability to hear, and even very low sound makes it inaudible. Now I never notice it, unless I have a bad cold with a stuffy nose which makes it a bit louder, but a mild annoyance at most.

I guess it's a good sign when you manage to freak yourself out while testing your horror WIP at 2 in the morning...
Mar 19 2018 03:10 PM
graymanAlways a good sign.
Mar 19 2018 08:39 PM
SothaDefinitely a good sign!

Just completed Subnautica. Highly recommended I liked nearly everything about it. Well, the end-game resource gathering was perhaps a bit of a chore, but always diving deeper the first time, not knowing what awaits down there, was a big scare. Lovely piece of art.
demagogueThe sense of mystery, and each stage outdoing itself, was great. I also spent a great amount of time making the perfect base ... so much so I should get back to the actual game at some point.

There's been an addendum to a contract that says I can't spend time messing with DR and TDM until RoW release on another project, as "it's distracting me". So... Thanks for all the fun and games, but it's important to keep this as I need it on my CV. (fku pariah, you grass).
graymanGood luck with your project.
Mar 17 2018 11:29 AM
AluminumHasteGood luck man, hope to see you back here when you're done!
Mar 17 2018 01:37 PM
OrbWeaverWho is this employer who has the right to monitor and control your personal life? If they decide that spending time with your wife is "distracting" you, can they forbid that too?
Mar 19 2018 08:58 AM
nbohr1moreI'd play that... Too bad nobody uses double-sided DVD's or you could have both games on one disk. XD

BienieHilarious! nice find

Impressed to see that TDM works well on the open-source radeon driver in Linux. A little bit stuttery and I only tried the training mission, but still.
OrbWeaverSapphire R9 290 from 2014 or thereabouts. I woudn't touch nVidia on Linux for the same reason as kano. I want to support vendors who support open source.
Mar 13 2018 06:11 AM
Bikerdudea R290's not to shabby, hope it has a custom cooler on it though, as they get a bit toasty.
Mar 13 2018 02:34 PM
OrbWeaverYeah it's got three big fans, not the horrible whiny single fan that some stock cards have. It makes a pleasant whooshing sound when heavily loaded.
Mar 14 2018 05:56 AM
Not really TDM-related, but I have just released a RPG fanzine: http://beyondfomalhaut.blogspot.hu/2018/03/zine-echoes-from-fomalhaut-01-now.html
MelanSotha: fanzines are actually a very old thing, they have just experienced a revival lately.
I think I do have an audience of sorts who like my stuff, although I have been fairly inactive on the RPG scene in the last few years. We'll see!

kingsalCongrats Melan! I'm definitely going to check this out.

kanoThey'll probably come up with a tax on violent video games. The next one you buy will cost an extra $5 or so.

demagogue → New Horizon
Happy birthday! You (and Komag) are the same age as me, which I guess doesn't mean too much but it's kind of cool. Cheers!
New HorizonThanks! :) Yeah, that is cool.

A Dark Mod deathmatch mission would be interesting. Imagine it, you're dropped into an arena and you can spawn different characters via pressing buttons on the wall. They fight each other (and you) There were missions like this for Thief 1 and 2...
EpifireHonestly this would be a good standalone project on something like UE4. D3 had limited network support but wasn't great even in it's heyday.
Mar 11 2018 12:23 AM
EpifireTwo important things to note are...
A: No need to code extensive NPC stealth interaction since it would be purely player based.
B: Project (light based) stealth could try and harness strict visibility based stealth. Since players will require clear line of sight, "fake darkness" really would have no place there. You really would need straight black in the darkest corners.
Mar 11 2018 12:29 AM
ERH+Almost done with arena map. thieves are on player side; mages, pagans and moors on elemental team - so you have 4 sides: monster, townsfolk, thieves, exotic. It crashes sometimes when you have about 20 creatures, but I guess there must be such price.

Petike the Taffer
An awful, shameful political crisis in my country. Things have come to a head. However, I hope all these massive revelations will provoke change. The people finally seem encouraged to make a difference. Hopefully, they will. Whenever I won't be foaming at the mouth over the whole sorry situation, I'll keep working on my TDM projects.

MelanAnd apparently by the Calabrian Ndrangheta itself?
Mar 10 2018 03:48 PM
Petike the TafferMelan: Yeah, it's become abundantly clear that the whole government has some mafia ties. Appaling stuff. All the more that they're refusing to leave and allow for early elections ! Ridiculous.

Goodbye standard mobile browsers and VLC. Hello Firefox Focus: https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/cms/page_20251107.html
nbohr1moreHeh. The keep saying that site is filled with lies. Then you stop listening and read for yourself. Maybe Aaron Swartz did not die in vain...

BikerdudeThe list show mostly portable apps, all the apps are v1.0 (the dll insecurity will have been removed by now) and I am only using one of those apps (notepad++) and it, like a lot of apps I have gets blocked by Windows Firewall Control.

teh_saccadeGotta save the NRA and 4th ammendment somehow. Smart move, distracting and blaming the issue on something that's not real and a dead horse. No matter what people think of Trump, you gotta hand it to the guy that he's a master social and media mechanic and manipulator.
Mar 03 2018 05:27 PM
XargNow let's watch the people who've spent the last decade blaming games suddenly reverse course and defend games because TDS is in full swing, and #resist'ing means denying your own talking points.
Mar 03 2018 10:59 PM
OrbWeaverXarg hits the bullseye. Watching retards like Anita Sarkeesian suddenly about-face and start defending video games because Trump says they're bad must be one of the best things I've seen this year.
