I can see a lot of powerpoint slides but nothing convincing
IMHO Intel is moving in the wrong direction. They have Iris 655 but you can only find it in Macbooks. They should have pushed it to major laptop producers so that there was a $600 laptop with it. Then, I want to be able to switch between TDP levels, at least when plugged in. And of course 128MB edram is NOT enough.
AMD is even worse with their IGPs ATM.

Speaking of which, I ran Darkmod on my new laptop with a GTX 1060, and it got 16 fps. Then I realized it was running Intel graphics by default and I had to go into the settings to have the GTX run it. Then the fps instantly shot up to 150. So watch out for that.

Epic and entirely preventable blunder on their part. At least they've fixed the root issue they should have done years ago, for what it's worth I guess.

It's been fun, but I am no longer able to dedicate time to DR. Thanks to everyone for all your help over the past few years and to the team for keeping alive what I call, "the golden age" of stealth play. After much consideration, I am quitting the games industry. This includes all indie projects.

Sad... I'm afraid all of this is typical for ex soviet union countries, but it usually appears to much lesser degree than in Moldova.

Having studied older and more recent Moldovan history, I've always felt the country was dealt a bad hand. And the Soviets and their successors, even if they invested in the economy in the past, are partly to blame for it. If there wasn't the whole Transnistria business, I bet Moldova could have already been in the EU along with Romania, and been better for it.

Anderson, personally speaking, I otherwise like your country, but I certainly don't like the neglect it's suffered, or that it's been in political limbo for some 30 years. Here's hoping things will improve in the future.

Since the tax software industry is hiding the fact that they must now let you complete taxes for free when you fall within a certain financial bracket, it seems fair that we spread this story. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/04/26/us_tax_turbotax/

Man, who needs parallax cubemaps when you could have RTX? But seriously if they got demos of Quake 2 running it, what would it take for RTX to run on something like TDM?

What would it take for nV to release an OpenGL extension that apparently does not need to limit to RTX hardware only?

Personally? No idea. I was just curious what everyone thought of that kind of rendering power somehow laced into our dated/beloved engine.

I'm still certain that parallax corrected cubemaps with updated material implementation (considering RTX is Nvidia exclusive) would be our safest bet for good reflections. Not real time but the usage would be a tremendous upgrade from stock cubemaps.

Consider buying a new (used) laptop. It has about the same horsepower as mine, but better screen and battery. (and more expensive as well). Makes sense or it's just consumer rabies?

Don't forget to check speakers - I received an insurance "upgrade" when my laptop charging port came too loose - they didn't repair, replace instead - and the sound is terrible. Can't hear a thing without headphones. Screen is better, though AMD burns hot.

Ultimately - this "upgrade" was a "downgrade" and I wish I had simple soldered the jack instead of thinking a 5 year newer laptop would be better - because it's not.

    It's wh...

Abandoned kingdom is a bit misleading name, as it refers to something very different from an ancient ruins. It would be a major spoiler to tell what it's all about, but it takes place in the middle of the living city.

I guess Java is a perfect way to port these old games, because they become cross-platform easily, and performance isn't important; it will run 100+fps on any even slightly decent machine.
