These corporations need to start being subjected to the same extremely harsh computer legislation that an average citizen would be. https://gizmodo.com/mozilla-slipped-a-mr-robot-promo-plugin-into-firefox-1821332254
kanoBut since the American justice system runs on dollar bills, the above will never happen.

kanoWhat's amusing here is that Mozilla has criticized others for sneaking add-ons in before, and they've even locked down Firefox against such practices. And now, *they* do it themselves! "Do as I say, not as I do" springs to mind. I am in the US, and this one showed up in Linux.

Why wasn't Hillary procesuted for SEC violations? Peter Strzok's wife was promoted to Director of SEC Enforcement
nbohr1moreThe people who are prosecuting Trump are the same people who helped rig the DNC election against Bernie. 1 + 1 = 2.

AluminumHasteBernie was never going to win though, he's too....Canadian lol.
However what happened to him was really fucking shitty but that's politics.
Also, any politician who's guilty of this stuff should be prosecuted and put in jail.

How many floppy disks would it take to store the dark mod and all its missions?
ObsttorteThe latest ones I remember could store a bit over 3MB. If Mr. Bohr is right with the size we would talk about 3600 disks.

Making sound presets for TDM 2.06 EFX system. Slow but steady progress.
ERH+So I can't work on implementing these presets now?
This 2.06 change - is it new working mechanics instead of old broken, or is it just some sort of graphic interface browser like particle editor?
Dec 03 2017 01:44 PM
JudithYou can, EFX is how OpenAL reads EAX and other once hardware-bound systems. This is a certain third-party standard and set of values, and these won't change over time.
Dec 03 2017 02:49 PM
JudithYou should wait until the next beta package though. Right now, the only way to hear changes after you modify the .efx file is to restart the game. The next version will have the 'reloadSounds' command refresh the EFX system as well.

After an absence of many moons, I will be working on my maps again. The latest DR compiled properly and I can finally get back into mapping. :)

TarhielI have been watching Dark Mod community regularly since release of version 1.0, and before on a occasional basis. And it´s nice to see talented people here. So congratulations, freyk! :)

What will happen if I draw too many amps from a modern (decent quality) PC PSU? Will it shut down gracefully, or will it do something worse? I destroyed more than a few of those conventional AC adapters/wallwarts when I was a kid by doing this! But I would like to think that improvements have been made.
teh_saccadefkn limits, i forgot... forget it - you're fine. Just don't make any internal hardware changes while the machine is on - the worst that can happen is your PSU won't kick out 1.21 gigawatts to go back in time to let you know that daisy-chaining un-fused sockets to anything is a bad idea.
Also that PSU's have always worked this way (except now I think they have inrush to charge @ 60a / 240v).
Nov 24 2017 09:44 AM
kanoI'm talking about drawing too much power inside the computer. I've seen people intentionally short out a PSU, and it just shut off gracefully without damage. (impressive). So I hope a modern one would shut down if the load exceeds the max output.

Bikerdude@Kano, take this thread to the tech support section fella. The update column isnt really to right place for this.

Using DarkRadiant to plan model houses for Malifaux...
Nov 21 2017 05:51 PM
Found a funny TDM bug that's also in 2.05. Equip a weapon, hold down attack, press escape to bring up the menu while continuing to hold attack, and then escape again to leave the menu while still holding attack. Now, walk around and you have become separated from the weapon! You can walk all around it and in front of it. Sadly, you can't hit yourself. When you let go of attack, the weapon fires from where you are, not where it is.
kanoYep, I saw that happen with the sword (it getting stuck in the "prepared to strike" position). Try it with the bow or blackjack, and you should see it floating there as you freely walk around, until you let go of the fire button.

Learning and experimenting with LOD spawnargs for meshes. Even one LOD model and e.g. turning off shadows for LOD stage 2 can really make a difference when it comes to scene complexity. I love it!
EpifireI really ought to look into LODs for my shadow casters as well. Probably would help optimize the outdoor scene I'm doing right now.
Nov 16 2017 03:28 AM
SpringheelAbsolutely. LOD is extremely powerful, especially for people who can make their own models.

With excellent help from Obsttorte, my Speedish build (currently in beta) has extremely good performance levels which are at or below Doom3 max limits! So this mission will be playable on laptops with even Intel HD graphics cards.
BikerdudeMake your way over to the beta test forum then - http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/19158-the-elixir-beta/

Built a Ryzen system. Got segfaults, so exchanged CPU. Segfaults are solved, except for in cases of crap software that segfaults on any machine. But before, I also experienced very rare crashes followed by hardware errors during next boot. Naturally I thought that the new CPU would solve this too. I found out this morning that I was wrong.
BikerdudeWTF is ASLR..?
Nov 13 2017 11:18 AM
kanoOnly ASLR I know of is Address Space Layout Randomization. It is a feature of the OS to randomize the way memory is allocated, in an effort to make attacks more difficult to execute. Far as I know, it has nothing to do with BIOS.
