Whoo! Final 2.06 beta package out! Almost done!
May 17 2018 02:51 PM
Cambridge SpyCan't wait. Once 2.06 is out, I need to think of a new intro sequence for my LPs, now that I've switched from Fraps to OBS and Standard to High Definition.

AosysFinally, some good news!

SothaGood! But I read it is only a temporary victory.
The evil empire will gather their forces and strike back.

I had to stop working on my FM for a while, and right now I'm working in a team as a modeller/coder on a different project. I'd convert some models to TDM once in a while and write defs for them, so they'd have full functionality.

RPGistaSounds great, good luck with your new job.
May 16 2018 04:49 PM
where is my mind?
Anybody play TDM on a Ryzen 2400g? How's it run?
So another strife for next year is whether Israel gets to host Eurovision?
stumpyit will be in jerusalem, expect it to get blown up, security will be very tight and there will probably be a lot of shooting, and people throwing things.

Cambridge SpyEspecially since the US has now moved their embassy there.

AndersonThey might just put it in Tel-Aviv if the world resists because there might be no infrastructure and terrorism is bad rep.

But congratulations anyway, of course :)

That moment when you see 16GB of memory costing $200, more than half as much as a computer. Crime does pay when you're a mega-corporation colluding to inflate prices! But oh no, soon they'll need to pay a fine that's a tiny fraction of the profiteering.
kanoLitigation is now being brought against the memory cartels. Maybe we'll see prices drop around the time the miners get done with the graphics cards, and then we can pick both of them up on the cheap.
May 10 2018 01:19 AM
STiFUGraphics card are already way cheaper. In fact, I got myself a half-year-old used GTX 1070 for 360€ the other day.
May 10 2018 06:00 AM
EpifireI dunno, the price tag tends to come and go on a whim. If the demand is high, so it also tends to skyrocket for the prices. Capitalism at it's finest I do say.

Testing my latest ship, when a sailor in pursuit of me stumbles down the gangplank and is knocked out. Bug or feature?
SothaDid you hear the studio audience applaud? If so, a feature.
May 09 2018 05:10 AM
demagogueLol, that's a great feature if it's consistent.

I've got ghosts that talk in mine, which is now counted as they don't know they are dead.

Just for general information... If any mapper would like to use any of my mapping stuff (modules, geometry, etc) please feel free to use them! Just be sure to mention in your mission credits you use stuff made by me. Thanks and be my guest!
graymanMost excellent! Thx!

A new Spectre is haunting us: https://www.techspot.com/news/74447-eight-new-spectre-variants-affecting-intel-chips-discovered.html
BikerdudeOh deep joy, lets hope AMD now that they have a better fab process get ahead of intel this time.
May 04 2018 01:33 PM
kano@Epifire: Intel knew about Meltdown more than half a year before it went public. And they probably also knew that fixing it in current chips would cause a performance drop. So, the chip they sold you that runs at Y speed now runs at Y-X speed because of the Meltdown workaround.
May 04 2018 01:49 PM
The disclosure was quite harsh, because the vulnerabilities were rediscovered by independent researcher (from rare some clues in the public).
May 07 2018 11:09 AM
Why is tax charged on a used item that's being sold as refurbished? Isn't that double-dipping? It reminds me of MS and the way they wanted to force every Xbox user to go online so that they and game publishers could extort money out of people when they resell games.
Apr 27 2018 05:04 AM
BikerdudeHMRC over here are now trying that crap on with private sellers on ebay, amazon etc. When you sales got above a certain amount your deemed a business.

Holy guacamole! I'm at 7,000 brushes! I'm getting close
EpifireAfaik, the LWO combine/exporter in DR will not format smoothing values correctly when doing so. An easy fix if you've already got Lightwave but a bit more of a hassle if you don't.
Apr 21 2018 12:45 AM
Obsttorte@Springheel: At least when reexporting a lwo model, for example after rotating or rescaling it, edges that were formerly smooth show up hard. This implies that the orientation of the vertex normals have changed. It appears that the exporter uses the facet normals as vertex normals.
Apr 21 2018 05:31 AM
EpifireThis also seems to be a common problem of non-Lightwave software. As Softimage doesn't support proper smoothing in LWO exports either.
