Parts for my new i7 8700 rig are on their way. I wonder if and how TDM engine wil scale up with new CPU and memory combo.
Judith8700 should reach 4,6 GHz in Turbo mode, my current CPU is set to 3,02 GHz. I wonder if higher clock will help with stuff like higher DC count.

nbohr1moreIf you enable multi-core enhancement, the renderer will use 2 cores (primarily) but some Game code has always used cores to service threads in a conventional way. (The script language supports threading but script authors rarely use it.)

Worked out how to get the DR documentation online using GitLab Pages. It's pretty incomplete at the moment, but thanks to GitLab CI, every push automatically updates the website. http://orbweaver.gitlab.io/DarkRadiant/
OrbWeaverThe information was probably "out there" but scattered around various forum threads, Wiki tutorials etc. The aim with an official user guide is to bring all that information together into a single place, structured logically and (eventually) covering ALL features of the application.

nbohr1moreOrb is a pro-Vulkan partisan! Get him!!! (Or just resign yourself to using GLSL to SPIR-V ...)

kanoIntroducing something new is well and good, but yanking out support for a cross-platform standard that is used by masses of programs is an assholish thing to do.

Happy system administrator appreciation day! Good job, everyone!
i30817"This paper from four Graz University of Technology researchers [PDF] describes a mechanism they have developed to exploit the Spectre V1 vulnerability over the net, with no local code execution required."
I think you meant unhappy.

TarhielIs that really a thing? Happy admin day, then! :D

Cutscenes that can't be skipped are the worst thing that ever happened to video games. Makes me long for a Super Nintendo, as FMV was impossible on that platform. They just can't fathum the idea that we play the game from the start more than once and we don't want to sit through a 5 minute video.
stumpysome cutscene's can been skipped in some game by pressing the esc key or space. depends on the game though.

In related news, a shadowy figure was spotted lurking outside the church. https://www.wral.com/investigation-into-weeping-virgin-mary-statue-continues/17702476/ The City Watch is investigating.
Cambridge Spy"Could the statue of St. Lucia be remade entirely out of cyberdongs?" :)

ERH+That is blasphemy! Mecha-Mary sheds WD-40, not olive oil!

stumpyOlive oil is good for cleaning bronzes, maybe some was left over after such a clean.

Today I saw something that cracked me up. On the specs for a cheap Chinese watch, it says the product is "water proof -- but please don't press the buttons while in water". ha ha ha

I've got 2x8GB of DDR3 desktop memory I would like to get rid of. There's no PC for me to put it in. (upgraded to Ryzen) Would like to sell it for $50. Cutting into the profits of the memory cartels by selling this so cheaply would just be a pleasant bonus.
kanoActually DDR3 isn't (that) expensive, it's DDR4 where the real extortion is.

Article 11 thrown out, Woohoo! - https://www.fudzilla.com/news/46686-european-parliament-throws-out-dumb-copyright-law
OrbWeaverIt's only a delay, it will be back for another vote in September. A small victory yes, but not the end of the war.
Jul 09 2018 04:43 AM
AluminumHasteIt didn't get thrown out Biker, it got sent back for more debate.
"In the end, MEPs decided the changes needed more debate and sent the proposals back to the Commission. The two sides will undoubtedly step up their campaigns in the meantime."
Jul 10 2018 11:19 AM
AluminumHasteAnd it was a very close vote as is 318-278, so next round with minor changes could go through.

Last night I had the strangest dream. I went to a museum and we played a hyper-realistic version of The Dark Mod. It was just a game though, as later they were showing us around the same place with the lights on. Eating ice cream before bed does strange things to the mind.
AtomicaIt wasn't a dream...
Jul 05 2018 06:56 PM
demagogueI played a VR game last night where you were in wheelchair set in a haunted hospital and it had a definite Dark Mod vibe. I guess I was supposed to be scared, but I was paying a lot of attention to the level design & flow. It looked pretty good for what it was.

Petike the TafferCool. Not sure I've ever dreamt about TDM. I have dreamt about Thief, though, a few years back... :-D
