  1. With the newer (and updated) version of TDM (2.07) the esc key, it's not working anymore. It seems that the key it's not recognized. I already tried on renaming my Darkmod.cfg, but the newer *.cfg created on start has the same problem. The first lines are: unbindall bind "0x00" "_impulse48" bind "ESCAPE" "togglemenu" bind "SPACE" "_moveup" ... Any idea/suggestion/faq to solve this? [I'm with Linux, Kubuntu 18.04, TDM has always worked lovely on Linux for me] [UPDATE] Maybe it's this bug on bugtracker? https://bugs.thedarkmod.com/view.php?id=4963 But I have problems only with the ESCAPE key. Any suggestion will be appreciated
  2. TDM 2.07-hotfix is ready for beta test The installation/update instructions are the same as for the recently finished 2.07 beta testing: This hotfix release is intended mainly to fix serious problems with OpenGL that some players have. The set of differences with the original 2.07 is minimal. The hotfix release is expected to fully replace the original 2.07, and be called simply "TDM 2.07" in the future. Unlike the usual case, this release does not break savegame compatibility. You can load savegames produced by the original TDM 2.07 in the 2.07-hotfix version perfectly fine: no need to do anything. The changes in 2.07-hotfix: 1) Fixed GLSL shaders not working on the latest AMD graphics drivers (thread, issue). With original 2.07, players with AMD gpus had to either set r_useGLSL 0 or to download custom shader files. Everyone who had this problem: please update to 2.07-hotfix, set r_useGLSL 1 back and remove glprogs directory if you have it. 2) Fixed GLSL shaders not working on some Linux drivers (issue). The same workaround was used to avoid the problem, which should be reverted after update. It is also possible that shadow maps will start working for some players (due to this fix). 3) Fixed r_showportals 1 to work properly with Multi Core Enhancement and with subviews (issue, thread). With original 2.07, it had problems like postprocessing being disabled or wrong rendering of portals. 4) Fixed missing tdm_coals_hot_ns material on some maps. Notes The purpose of this quick beta testing is to check if something breaks in 2.07-hotfix compared to 2.07. Normally, no player should notice any difference after update, except for the aforementioned problems gone. While reporting issues is always welcome, we will not fix bugs which are present in the original 2.07. Please try to be specific when reporting a problem. What you were doing, where you were when the problem occurred, can you reproduce it, etc. This wiki article explains how to locate config file, how to record condump, etc. Thank you for testing !

  4. So after that I was able to finish the mission, and I enjoyed it a lot! I had a few minor problems with it: But for the most part it was great. I particularly liked
  5. In Volta 2 the water shader imo is having rendering problems at least to me, what I see is a simple scrawling water texture with a reflection moving back, forward and side to side in a fast motion the heathaze effect that you see in the video bellow is not working to me. Btw not sure if useful but compared to the video bellow the scene looks much darker to me but perhaps the guy just brought up the gamma for the let play. I'm playing on a all AMD PC AMD Ryzen 7 1800X AMD R9 570X 8GB latest (at the time of this post) 19.9.2 drivers Darkmod.cfg CON_DUMP.txt
  6. The #metoo movement went with a credible "testimony" against one of my favorite video game music composers - Jeremy Soule. I always made it a rule for myself not judge of an artist/writer/composer by his personality but just to look at his professional work. Don't know if I can be indifferent to this. Would you like to listen to the music of a rapist henceforth? http://www.nathalielawhead.com/candybox/calling-out
  7. I'd like to encourage everybody to post their system configuration either here or in our wiki article. This way it's easier for newcomers to check whether their system is capable and what performance or problems are to be expected. Please include information like: - Operating System - CPU - System RAM - Video Card - Video Drivers (if that info is available) - Experienced Performance, Steps you had to perform to get it running or problematic driver versions, etc. If you're posting here, somebody from the team can transfer that info to the wiki article.
  8. I will update this list as we go, re-arranging info based on severity - Ongoing privacy concerns The trade-offs between privacy and features is not a simple black-and-white decision, even Windows 8 has an “Advertising ID” that follows you around. Ars Technica revealed that, even with all of the Win10 security settings on Off, Win10 still sends some data to the Micro$oft Mothership. The simple fact is that Microsoft hasn’t told us what data it’s collecting. With the release of Windows 10, Micro$oft have stepped up there 'illegal' data capture of private user data - http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17379-microoft-data-slurp-now-not-just-limited-to-win10/?hl=windows M$ is now via the latest update, monitoring how long your Win10 session's are and how long you use various apps - http://betanews.com/2016/01/04/why-is-microsoft-monitoring-how-long-you-use-windows-10. At release ALL Win10 (home-to-enterprise) users could not disable telemetry, but as of the latest update now enterprise user's only now have that option - http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-telemetry-time-for-level-playing-field/ But it seems some enterprising user has created a tool for home/pro users - http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-disable-telemetry-and-data-collection-in-windows-10/. But the article points out that tere is some telemetry being sent back to M$ in Win7/8 - http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17379-microoft-data-slurp-now-not-just-limited-to-win10/?hl=windows Another renamed service that needs to be disabled - http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/11/24/windows-10-automatic-spying-begins-again/ Another example of fresh install, on a PC that wasn't used for 8hrs - http://betanews.com/2016/02/06/windows-10-phones-home-a-lot-even-with-all-reporting-and-telemetry-disabled/ More and more tools are coming out for Win 10 to try and block all or most of the telemetry traffic, here one I have come across - DisableWinTracking Advertising it wasn't in at launch but there are reports of 'recommended' apps appearing in the start menu, WTF! -http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/windows-10-start-menu-advert/ Stability and Compatibility I tested the retail version, its IMHO its still not stable enough to considered a daily OS. I tested on release and wasn't impressed. I found if I enabled (fairly modest) whitelist outbound blocking on my internet router, Win10's internet responsiveness would fall through the floor. All browsers would takes ages to resolve sites and the OS itself would actually become lumpy/laggy. Broken Video drivers, its so widespread that even a few on here have been affected - http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17665-windows-10-why-you-shouldnt-upgrade/?p=384905 The Graphical user interface M$ white-washing of the interface in Win8 and office 2013 and have refused to learn from user feedback. Forced updates Not being able to control what gets installed on "MY PC", is a massive NO! NO! Patching remains Windows 10’s Achilles’ heel, all Windows 10 Home machines, and Windows 10 Pro machines that aren’t hiding behind an update server (such as WSUS or WUB) will get all patches applied according to Microsoft’s time scale. All three of the first Cumulative Update patches have had problems with reboot cycles. KB3081424 on Aug. 5, KB3081436 on Aug. 12, and KB3081438 on Aug. 14 all crashed a bunch of Windows 10 systems. The installer stops mid-installation, flashes an error message, rolls back, and reboots. Then you guessed it -- the forced installer kicks in and crashes Windows again. Rinse, lather, repeat. Getting out of the mess involves editing the registry. We haven’t yet seen how Micro$oft will recover from a really bad update, the experience to date with the three Cumulative Updates does not instil confidence. We don’t know if Microsoft will start documenting its patches again. We don’t know if much effort will be directed at fixing and improving the Microsoft-supplied Universal apps. Windows 10 installer takes a look at your system and based on the hardware and software it finds, assigns your request to a bucket of similar upgrade requests. The guys running the upgrade system, prioritize your request based on their assessment of how likely your system is to bomb out on an upgrade. Key apps, such as Mail and Edge, STILL aren’t ready yet Some of Windows 10’s key apps simply half baked. Mail has a nasty habit of putting notifications in the upper-left corner and leaving them hanging forever. There’s no combined Inbox, so if you have multiple accounts you have to jump from Inbox to Inbox. And it crashes hard -- for a lot of people. Edge, the new browser, similarly has all sorts of rough "edges". There are no extensions yet, thus no AdBlocker. Changing the search engine is tortuous, moving tabs onto the desktop and back again doesn’t work and you can’t pin tabs. In short use what ever mail/browser you wrere using on previous OS. Not much in the way of Universal apps Don't believe the marketing bollox about all of those wonderful Universal apps in Windows 10, whether it’s on a desktop, notebook, phone, Raspberry Pi, it ain't happening. The Windows Store is still by and large a wasteland, with crap apps galore. Win10’s Tablet Mode broken First, there’s the menu on the left that tucks away the entries on the left side of the Start menu. It collapses fine, but when it’s collapsed it rarely shows any more tiles than when it’s not collapsed. What’s the point, eh? Universal app windows have that pesky taskbar permanently tacked on the bottom, while the window bar at the top auto-hides. Edge, when running full screen, doesn’t support any of the old Metro IE swipe commands. You can’t swipe through running apps. The apps themselves? The irony is M$ Office on the iPad is better than M$ Office on Windows 10. OneDrive regression This concern applies only if you use OneDrive in Windows 8.1, and if you put a lot of stuff in OneDrive. For those of you using OneDrive in Windows 7 (and Windows 8), there’s no change in behavior with Win10. But if you’re accustomed to seeing all of your OneDrive files in Windows 8.1’s File Explorer, you’ll be in for a bit of a shock. Windows 10 makes you choose which OneDrive folders you want to be able to see in File Explorer. Once you’ve made that choice, the other folders aren’t accessible in File Explorer. The only way to see what files you have in OneDrive is by venturing to the OneDrive website. Missing Media Center and DVD player For those people that run Windows Media Center, its gone in Windows 10 PC. Instead Micro$oft wants you to use/buy an Xbox. Ain’t broke, don’t fix it The old adage comes from experience and it’s as applicable now as it ever was. If you’re using Windows 7/8/8.1, and it’s properly patched up and working for you, and you’ve stopped using Internet Explorer, you really have to consider whether it’s worth the effort to upgrade to Windows 10. Carefully consider whether the warning signs listed here. Still to many questions For example, when you upgrade a “genuine” Win7, Win8 or Win8.1 machine to Win10 and run the upgrade in place, Micro$oft records a hardware ID that says, “this machine has valid license” At that point, you can install either Win7 or Win10 on that machine, and your license will be validated. Its believed that the only version of Win10 that you can disable ALL telemetry and fully control Windows update in, is the enterprise version. Smells like Teen Spirit desperation Microsoft Marketing chief Chris Capossela explained that users who choose Windows 7 do so “at your own risk, at your own peril.” It is particularly myopic to rubbish one of your own products that way. Put simply Capossela is a complete cock, Windows 7 is no less secure than Windows 10 (it will be supported until 2020 and Windows 8.1 2023) and is no less compatible with new hardware and software. Also at the moment Win7 has a bigger market share, so easier work for developers. 9. Quite a few people probably don't know or don't remember that the Epic Store is giving away free games every week. As most people have very busy lives nowadays it can be difficult to remember to check the store every week. They have been giving away some pretty good games and it would be a shame to miss these. Therefore I will try to update this post every week with the games they are giving away until they stop doing it. This is obviously meant for people that are interested in downloading something from the Epic Store. This week you can download: The End Is Nigh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8DUps2QKA0 The End Is Nigh is a sprawling adventure platformer where you die a lot, but that's ok because you are probably already dead anyway. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/the-end-is-nigh/home ABZU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9d8YjpJgiU From the art director of Journey® and Flower®, ABZÛ is a beautiful underwater adventure that evokes the dream of diving. https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/product/abzu/home
  10. Just finished the mission this evening. Great stuff! Quite the challenge trying to get all the loot with no knockouts, which is how I prefer to play. I really enjoyed Overall I think this is a must play, at least for experienced taffers. There were very few problems with the mission aside from a bit of performance struggles when overlooking the ship and inside the shipping company (strangely). Excellent work!
  11. Congratulations! Downloading now. When it rains, it pours: I'm about to release my mission too.
  12. Previous discussion: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/16980-missions-in-exotic-locations/ I agree about assets: in general, I think 'exotic' ornaments/loot/etc. that could play the role of Thief's masks are something it would be nice to have more of. Besides 'foreign' locations or Lost City-style missions they could also suit museum heists, a gentleman's cabinet of curiosities, a mage's laboratory... Currently I'm prodding at this Aztec calendar I found on Burningwell. (Since someone mentioned sand: surprisingly, if you search DR's Media tab for sand only a couple of suitable materials turn up, and they both use the dirt surface type even though there is a sand surface type. That's easily dealt with by scavenging more textures though.)
  13. Hey all! I haven't properly played the Dark Mod since 2.05 or maybe even 2.04 until now and I've noticed that whatever I do in game the center and LFE channels of my 5.1 sound system remain silent. In other words, the output is actually 4.0 (2 front + 2 rear speakers) rather than 5.1. Now, I am not sure exactly but I recall no problems previously - until the EFX update 2.06, I think. I even found my older post about extremely loud LFE channel here: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/18741-really-loud-music/&tab=comments#comment-405277 As I understand, it is often made that the center and LFE channels are reserved for special sounds and not used often as the front speakers. For example, in Witcher3 center is mostly used for voices in the dialogs and the best way to check LFE is to use the aard sign magic. Or, in Skyrim it is known that LFE plays only when the dragon hits the ground. The first question is: do I have an issue with sound or not? Because maybe the sound output is ok and I've simply met no specific conditions utilizing the center and LFE channels? Minding my previous paragraph, I don't think it's EFX related but maybe the sound shaders simply changed since 2.05? This all brings me to another question: is there a way to check somehow in the Dark Mod wether the game outputs the sound correctly? About my setup now. I output sound via HDMI to Pioneer receiver with 5.1 setup. Everything works fine in modern games that provide 5.1 output support like the Witcher3 or Mortal Kombat 10 and 11. The windows sound configuration in control panel allows me to check all the speakers and it's fine. I have win 7 64 bit, OpenAl installed. The Dark Mod allows me to set 5.1 sound in options with no warning (I know that in other cases it gives a message like "your system does not support this sound configuration"). Please, help me to find out if anything's wrong with my setup and why my center and LFE channels are silent. Hate to start new threads but I didn't find anything related to my problem. Moreover, I feel the lack of sound-related discussions considering our community's interests.
  14. I've been involved in the TDM community now since before we had a game, since way back when we were arguing over lock picking methods lol Finally, I'm finished with Briarwood Manor - my first Fan Mission for The Dark Mod. I've been hatching this for a year so I'm wrapped it's finally done. Briarwood Manor Crowind - made the Briefing for the mission: This is the HD version. Briarwood Manor is a old manor house built and added on to over the years which gives it it's design. The family part is the original home, and two other parts were added on later. Inspiration came from an image in the TDM Editors Inspiration thread. Available through in-game downloader. - available also in the link below. Update Version 1.7 - Fixed some brush splitting, and a problem with the stairs. Also fixed a readable problem, and a few other minor problems. Added little more detail around the woodshed. Update Version 1.6 - Fixed problem with Crowleys Diary, and a screwed up shadow in the old well. Update: Version 1.5 - Resolved the problems with the Steward and the Dropkey. They should never be a problem again. Unless you decide to hit him, then you are going to break him from his route lol. Fix an sound issue, and fixed a problem where the player could get into places he shouldn't until the right time. lol Improved the performance for the garden area. It should be playable for low end PC's now. If you get stutter issues, drop your video settings, especially the LOD setting. With LOD set to Very Low, Fog will be gone, and detail will be dropped a lot at a distance. The higher you raise your LOD the more you get. ie at LOW LOD Fog comes back. Experiment so you get a setting your PC is happy with. You can use the console command com_showfps 1 to see what FPS you are getting. 30 and above are acceptable. Enjoy. Update: Version 1.4 - Resolved (partially the drop key issue - save before you go into Stewards room, fixed many other minor problems picked up by Abusimplea. Added a new room, made the map a bit more open, solved some of the difficulty issues people had. The map should now be ghostable. I hope. Should be added to the in game downloader within a day or so depending. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IEiv8WbeHO-HqapmhdQgPtKEdHS5zsSu/view?usp=sharing If you download from this link, top right arrow pointing down, is how you download it. Click it. A few things to note: 1+ Hour of gameplay - Easy Difficulty is intended for new players. Hard/Expert for most of the TDM Community. This is a challenging map for new players. Use your tools Features a custom intro (above) and a few custom sounds, and some voice acting. Warning: This mission is not for low end PC's. The house is fine, but the garden will make lower end PC's grind. The map has been made sensitive to LOD settings. So if it's grinding you're PC drop you're LOD settings for it, then you can return them to normal once you've finished. On my Medium PC gtx 760 with Normal LOD I get 30 to 60 fps in the garden. I upgraded to GTX 1070 and get pretty good 60 fps in the garden. Cast: Voice Actors (Intro) : 1St Merchant: Crowind, 2nd Merchant: Mykel19XX Corbin: Goldwell. Voice Actors (Mission): Corbin played by Goldwell, Morgan Crowley played by V-Man, Giles MacCadie (Steward) played by myself Thank you to my Beta Testers: Cambridge Spy, OldJim, V-Man, Jaxa, duzenko and Bikerdude. Cambridge Spy and OldJim did most of the hard grind in finding problems, so thank you both so much. If you are stuck or need help, fastest way to reach me is message me on my youtube channel (link bottom of this post). Use the resources you were given and you should have no problems. Otherwise post spoiler free in this thread. Credits: Crowind put my briefing text into a more thiefy style for Goldwell to voice. He also helped with refining the trailer for the mission. Bikerdude (did the coal door for me and let me use his moonbeam method) and sorted the performance side of things out and thereby taught me how to do performance., grayman for providing a script to handle the drop key (Abuseinplea for fixing it from bouncing) and grayman for solving some conversation problems. EHR+ and Fidcal for his Fidcal's A-Z tutorial for Dark Radiant. Without this starting point I would not have started. Changes 1.2 to 1.70 - Added a second way to get into the building - Dining Room and Parlour doors now pickable, to make it bit less linear - Electric Light in Lobby dropped it's luminosity from 240 to 220 Little bit darker. - Door on the landing (catwalk) is now unlocked - Spider no longer walks down to the ladder, or clips into the floor. - Opened up the level more so you can choose more how you want to tackle it; except for family rooms (top of stairs) - Fixed a graphical bug with the back stairs caused by TDM upgrading to 2.06 - Added some plants around bottom of garden wall alongside cart. I don't like seeing planes meeting. lol - Made some changes to the fog in the garden. Enjoy Neon
  15. Congratulations on the release! What an opportune time to check on the forums! I've been itching to get back to playing some TDM, I'll put a pin on this and give it a go tomorrow.
  16. I found no problems with these missions
  17. Cleaning Up the Neighborhood by some1stoleit, bikerdude Brief Description: A small-medium sized assassination mission, taking place in a bar and casino environment with streets surrounding the bar. Story: Crime is out of control in my neighbourhood, when thugs attacked my wife I decided I can no longer stand by idly. Unable to rely on the corruptible city watch and the aloof Builders, I must take matters into my own hands. My first target is a bar called the Scoundrel’s Rest which is not far from my home. It’s owned by a man named Godfrey and considered neutral ground to the various criminal factions inhabiting the city district. There is no doubt its presence attracts criminals towards my neighbourhood, contributing to the infestation of crime. Infiltrating the bar not only creates the opportunity to kill Godfrey and shut it down for good but also allows me to find information about the rest of criminal groups that inhabit my neighbourhood. I gave my thieving days when I met my wife, but for her sake I must take up the profession once more and prowl in the shadows again. Notes/Tips: Your lock picks are noticeably old, so you can’t rely on them to get you past every door. Examine the environment and keep an eye out for keys on pockets. If you see a pipe outside, chances are you can climb up it.On Rusty and Practiced difficulty settings there's a map available for the bar’s ground level and the street surrounding it.It should be possible to ghost the every area in the mission. A small amount of loot however may be difficult or impossible to acquire without knockouts. There are a few hidden optional objectives you can discover. I think the mission should be straightforward enough to beat without answers, but I will provide a FAQ if it’s needed. Just be sure to give a good try working it out yourself before reading this. Thanks: I’ve found the TDM community very welcoming and helpful as a new member and would like to thank several people. Bikerdude, for allowing me to collobarate with him and showing me a different way to build maps from scratch in Dark Radiant, as well as many other mapping techniques.Resources:Springheel, for his Modules and his retroactive permission to use New Job street segments.Amadeus, for doing some proofreading of the briefing and readables.Obsttorte, for his objective checking script used for one of the optional objectives.Rsoul, for creating new internal version of architecture models.Beta Testers:Amadeus, Cambridge Spy, Abusimplea, Shadow, Boiler’s_hiss, nbohr1more, Springheel, JudithPeople who helped Answer my Questions:Destined, JackFarmerSpecial thanks to Sotha and Springheel whose video tutorial series give me the guidance and confidence to start using Dark Radiant.I apologise if I missed anyone, if I missed you please do contact me and I’ll credit you appropriately. About the Development: Initially this was a solo developed mission made by myself, upon some beta testing I agreed to make the mission collaboration with Bikerdude, with the intention to learn good mapping practices from the collaboration. The mission was redesigning using the same layout as the original but using Springheel’s modules instead of my very simple brushwork, and expanded in scope to include a more detailed street, a canal, a sewer and a rooftop segments. Bikerdude’s use of springheel modules and custom skins is mostly responsible for the beautiful visuals, with my contribution being the layout of areas and the writing. Known Issues: None at the moment.
  18. You can look up missions and sort them on the wiki. Then find that mission name in the in-game DarkMod mission downloader and install them. It's inconvenient, but it does work. I think your points are valid: I can't see any missions on the official mission page and it's been like that for a while. I think this page should redirect to the wiki missions page until it's fixed. I can't sort missions in the in-game DarkMod download page. This is a work-in-progress project discussed here. On the wiki I can't click on the mission titles, those redirects to the broken official mission page instead of the relevant forum mission thread that I'd expect to see. These links should be updated and link to the correct mission thread. On the wiki I can download missions up to 2013 through the B-icon, but other download links are broken or missing. For clarity, I think the B-icon should be changed to the word "download". Maybe someone can update these download links on the wiki if they have or know about a working mission mirror? Let's not overreact though. There are working alternatives for everything. The best possible solution is that every player can just fire up the TDM game and start downloading and playing missions without having to take the effort to go to a website mission page, a forum or wiki. This is what the project from point 2 is about. I do think that the official mission page is important to promote recent TDM content and show the variety of missions TDM offers for new players. From working on commercial online services since 2008, I know most customers don't take the effort to provide any feedback. If the service doesn't work, they just go away. It doesn't help to point the few customers that do complain the way around service problems, because you're still missing out on the silent majority. If I can compare The Dark Mod to such an online service, then I do think in its current state The Dark Mod is missing out on a lot of potential players.
  19. I got an empty list for downloading missions from thedarkmod currently, telling me I may download nevertheless. Possible I could download from the game itself but couldn't sort the missions list by date, e.g. Some days ago I was still able to download from the wiki list, but somehow this also doesn't work any longer - just gets me to the mentioned above empty missions list now. Am I blind or dumb ? Why has it to be that difficult and uncomfortable ? Does Darkmod has a deathwish somehow ?
  20. Wow. That is the issue! Come on, Windows 10; that's pretty bad. Thanks for the info! And after I disabled 'Read Only', I was able to start downloading missions. However, when I looked away during the download queue of about five missions, TDM crashed to Desktop at some point during the downloads. Now, when I look at the folder again, Win10 has set it back to 'Read-Only'. Nice. I'll have to try and troubleshoot more on a different day UPDATE: I re-set the settings today and was able to finally play. Thanks again. Will see if the settings stick after reboots. Maybe it was human error in terms of the settings not sticking last time
  21. I can't find an "Uninstall" option for Dark Mod. I need to re-install the game due to increasing and now expanding problems. Should I just delete the folder containing the game (saving the "fms" folder) then install a fresh version and drop "fms" into it?
  22. From a design perspective, the mission types are a mixed bag consisting of locations (mansion, city), genres (horror) and game play types (platforming). Ideally we'd want to split these 3 groups and allow multiple tags in each group. This would cover both single missions and campaigns. It could possibly facilitate an advanced tag-based search if we'd ever want one. And maybe even something fancy, such as a mission recommendation system based on, for example, highest percentage overlap of type tags from already finished or downloaded missions. I wouldn't do those features in C++. Python has easier access to data science tools to do such things. To keep it simple, I'd say the wiki mission type list has a high overlap with the TTLG mission type list that has been in use since 2006. So after 13 years of use, maybe it's just a good list. Mission authors can choose a single mission type that most represents their mission. It can be an artistic decision. A campaign simply remains a "campaign" and missions without a type remain a "single mission". I added a screenshot of the mission download menu with mission type included in the existing layout, marked with red. Because the release date value is fixed in width, there's room for a type value next to it. Since type names are not finalized yet, we can make each type name fit in that type value space. This would always be a single value. I don't know how missions are uploaded. If it's a form, the mission author can select a mission type from a drop-down list. If it's a PM, maybe the mission author can simply mention the mission type in the PM. Because it's a fixed type list, I think we should exclude type from darkmod.txt. Otherwise we'd either have to allow a free type text that could deviate from the online types in the mission manager, or guarantee fixed types in the mission manager by matching the type text with the fixed type name list using something like Levenshtein distance. I'd say the mission type is always read from the online mission mirrors. I think the idea is to help players to more easily select missions to download. Once a mission is downloaded, we can assume players have already made their preferred selection, so mission types in the offline mission manager are less important and more a nice-to-have. I don't know how missions are updated, can I assume they are updated the same way they are uploaded?
  23. Ah, then you'd likely get good use out of this interior image that I was reminded of just now. Regarding the outdoors, we have very good nature assets nowadays, as discussed on Discord. Dram already showed what can be achieved with them just by arranging and lighting them well: http://forums.thedarkmod.com/index.php?/topic/10003-so-what-are-you-working-on-right-now/&do=findComment&comment=420282 Another good inspiration for nature landscaping would be Bikerdude's Caduceus of St Alban.
  24. Story: "Sir Barrington, as he likes to be known, enjoys a prestigious reputation of having lavish yet intimate dinner parties. I've heard the tales about what goes on in the noble's dining room, but I believed none of them 'till now. Orbach, a local shop-keep who makes special deliveries to the people of 'high stature' heard Sir Henry Hughbellow raving about Sir Barrington's special 'Elixir', It cures your ails and gives you vigor... By the Hammer, it extends your very life! he exclaimed. Orbach begged Sir Henry for a small sample, and after one sip he was sure that the potion was nothing more than mineral water and spirit. He asked Sir Henry if other folks were as fond of the elixir as he was, and he found out that folks are paying handsomely for these small vials on a weekly basis. Some lords pay for exclusive treatments and bathe in the tonic. Lord Barrington even brings in an occult expert every month, where supposedly the power of the elixir is renewed by the full moon. Never one to pass up the opportunity for a good scam, Orbach has decided to take a cut of this 'elixir' business. He has made an elixir of his own, but needs to convince Sir Henry that it's really the same as the 'magical' tonic that Lord Barrington has been selling. And that's where I come in. Its rumered that Sir Barrington's prized possession is a painting of the revolutionary inventor 'Guillermo de Sohase' the day after he won the Battle of Billinsdune. If I can steal this painting, Orbach can use it to 'prove' that he also got the elixir from Sir Barrington. Once Sir Henry tells all his friends that Orbach's stolen elixir is healing his heart, soothing his pains, and igniting his libido, they'll be lining up at his shop. Its time to go." Build Time: Version 1.0 was speed build of sorts, to build upon Springheels video's with the new modules. Took roughly 20hrs to build but this ended up happening over the space of a few months.http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/18808-bikerdudes-speedish-build-using-the-new-modules/?hl=%2Bspeed+%2BbuildThanks: Co-auther: Obstortte for all his custom entities, scripting and showing me a thing or two about perfing.Resource: Springheel - new modulesReadables: nbhor1moreTesters: Bienie, Judith, Abusimplea, Cambridge Spy, Gerberox, MayheM, Amadeus, Goldwell, nbhor1more.Download: - mega Info: Repeat after me, "Read and explore, Read and explore"Known issues: This mission has been heavily tweaked and worked on to provide a playable experience for even low end machines. For very low end PC's please make use of the in-game LOD slider, as not only are details reduced, but the ambient_world fog is removed at the lowest setting. The medium difficulty is partially broken, the mission wont end when the player gets to the exit location. As this is the only issue with that difficulty level, I will fix this when I next update it to include the intro.
  25. I don't remember if I used your installer or not but I can't find any reference to an "uninstaller" anywhere so that suggests I didn't. What I DO have is the darkmod207.zip which I will use to extract all pertinent files in what will be an empty folder (I may name the folder slightly different). The zip file contains tdm_update.exe as well as the file TheDarkMod64.exe, which for whatever reason disappeared from my computer last week and started my problems. Once installed, I will move the fms Folder to the new install folder and hopefully that will solve my growing issues. I suppose once installed, I should run the update program to make sure everything is current ?
