So, what are you working on right now?

I'm intrigued by the fact that Serpentine has Plato's Republic open while he's doing all this techie stuff, but I guess (like many us) he needs a bit of light-hearted Socratic dialogue concerning individual and social justice, the immortality of the soul and the position of the philosopher & the poet in society to lighten the technical load every now and then.

I've found that audio-books which can be divided nicely into tea-break sized segments and pretty good way to sit still while letting the brain keep busy on the content. Work a for a while, take a 15 minute break, think a bit about things. It has a nice rhythm to it. Marveling at just how little has changed in two thousand years.

 

Otherwise I'm all out of series to watch - perhaps that is justice in itself?

 

That said, DR is now working, so I've been putting a few of those breaks into making pump rooms and cargo areas, woot.

Very nice atompshere there, mate. That brick material's normalmap could actually be improved, though. You see, some of the bricks look kind of inverted and it is also a rather shallow depth effect. If you want, I could touch it up for you...

Looking very nice. Some trim looks too much like facade in ghouse4.jpg. And I guess the arris where the arched ceiling meets an area of flat ceiling in ghouse3.jpg jumps out as fake - could that line be broken with a bit of detail or something. But yeah, nice work. It's got a kind of naturalness to the lighting and textures that seems to evade a lot of what we get to see in TDM. Almost like something SlipTip might tease people with.

Okay, that tears it. I'm tossing WS2 and WS3 and starting over.

Im sure WS2/3 will blow everyone away just as WS1 did.

Looks like that old D3 map the gatehouse. How did you make the fog?

heh, I was wondering when someone would figure it out, the fog that came with the map :-)

 

I got perms from the author to do a total conversion of said map. Thus far I've just spent around 24hrs or so replacing all the D3 clutter, textures (along with new normals), sounds, entities and then fixing all the bugs and finally making the place look more organic(rounded egdes etc..

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
