Here are some samples of my voice acting, and a custom mission_complete thing. If I can help with voices, music, sound design etc. I'd be happy to.

I couldn't upload all I had intended.

The voices sound pretty good. I'm working on some new vocal scripts, so I can probably come up with something for you in another couple weeks.

Sounds like some real potential there. Lots better than some voice acting i've heard. I really liked the shortsample voice. The commoner1sample and in particular the ThiefSample seem a little forced and unnatural though. For the thief voice, i'd try puffing out my chest while i was speaking maybe to see if some of that "cool guy" hoarseness could come from a more natural place. Or....something like that...;)

These are good. Would enjoy a voiceset like them.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Thanks guys. And thanks to Noisycricket for the tip, I'm not sure I have any more "coolness" in me but I'll try.:P

I'm working on some ambient tracks right now actually.

Here is some ambience: http://oceanarts.net/Downloads/Special/tdm/audio/Forgotten_Places.mp3

My site is down at the moment and have been for some time, but I'll add a "Thief" related category to the Downloads section as soon as I get it up and running again.

agreed.

I would like to hear moar voices.:)

I'll try to get a complete voiceset done soon. Sadly, I'm a little limited as I live in an apartment building with lots of noisy people. I did the ones above rather hastly when it was reasonably quiet.

I love it! Very intense and spooky. Especially that climax moment at 1:39 got my hair standing up. :D What tool(s) do you work with?

Thank you. I used to work with Cakewalk for a long time, but now I use FL studio along with Omnisphere. My wife got me the life saving Zoom H2 recorder for our wedding, and I constantly run around with it and record stuff.

Electric guitars, an old keyboard. It's amazing what the human voice can do. A lot of other stuff too, but that's the most important bits and pieces.

Hmn, to be honest, I think this one is a bit too intrusive and repetitive for background music. It's rather something that could be used as a motion picture score in my opinion. Or maybe it could be played once at a key-story-moment in a FM. But imagine you're stuck somewhere and that track repeats over and over...

I don't want to say that the track is bad, it is good actually, but not very suitable for background music in my opinion. Maybe try to reduce the amount of samples playing simultaneously. The women's choir is awesome for example and would definitely do well as background music. Just maybe try to arrange it in a more minimalistic, less intrusive and less repetitive fashion. It would also be ok, if there were actual pauses between the parts where you hear nothing but a hollow *hummmmm* sound. This ambienttrack would probably be used in something like a church and that sound I am talking about would be created by that huge empty space. I don't know exactly how to explain what I mean, sorry, but everyone knows these kinds of sounds from the Thief soundtracks.

You know what? You're absolutely right. I had a very specific idea where it might have worked, but I'm not that could at DR yet... and will possibly never be. But it's there if anyone wants it, and if nothing else it might serve as an inspirational piece. Now I'm fresh out for the time being. Thanks for listening. :)

Work has progressed rather smoothly on a civilian voiceset, one with an english sounding accent. It will probably be ready by tomorrow. Damn it's a lot of work. Respect to everyone working on this, it's incredible what you've accomplished.

I didn't realize you were actually recording one.... If you can make sure to save them as .wav files in mono format with a 44100 Hz project rate, that would be very helpful. Also a volume of at least -6dB, and little to no reverb.

I'm curious to see what you've come up with.

I can give you a link to what I've got so far if you want. See if it will do. Got all the idle comments cut and stored in a folder. I think I've named them properly, but I've appended letters alphabetically at the end so I can easily and conveniently update the voicepack with more alternatives and other versions later. But they are easily renamed by simply deleting that one letter.

Yeah, show us those oggs. And also maybe you should rather wait for Spring to give you the script of what is actually supposed to be recorded. I mean if it's good stuff, I am sure we'll take it either way, but it sounded a bit like Spring had some clear intentions...

By the way, how good is your wife at voice acting? ;)

I just wanted to do a generic type first. My wife loathes microphones.:D

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
