It would be slightly easier, and just as valuable, to advertise for *mappers*.

Yes, I think maps are the lifeblood of the mod. People should make more of them.

(Me? I haven't been able to commit time to mapping since August. And sadly, this may stay that way long enough for me to miss the Halloween contest. :()

I agree with trying to find more mappers. The coders and artists have done an excellent job, but there are still lots of resources (especially sounds) that haven't even been used yet in missions. If you're a naughty person like me and you checked in the PK4 files, you know what I mean.

My proposal is just an idea :). If you think, guys, that you need more mappers than coders and artists, then let it be. But I believe that you definitely should insert the "We are hiring/searching..." text somewhere in TDM site, because the more people know about TDM, the better. Yes, the site already contains the "Want to help? ..." text, but I believe it is not as attractive and/or aggressive as it could be.

Ah okay, thanks!

When I was a child, i took the Thief 1 sounds and used them as windows sounds. It was really funny when the guards where mocking me because some error message bopped up or I shut down the computer ^_^

Im currently logging a support ticket with nVidia to get a profile made for the Darkmod (the power managment mode isnt detecting our game correctly when set to adaptive) and I noticed we dont have min/rec spec requirements listed anywhere I can see. At an educated guess I would suggest the same as D3-BFG-

I don't know if you've used Nvidia Inspector before, Biker, but you can set up your own custom profile based on D3 or D3BFG or whatever. You can just pull up either of those and rename it or create a new custom profile and use either of those as a template (I believe). It will also set SLi/Crossfire bits accordingly for those engines and other parameters for compatibility.

Its free software.

Would be nice to have the driver to officially recognise our little game though, and to that end I have also asked if our game can be added to the Geforce experience.

But back on topic, min/req specs - I would like consensus, can the BFG specs above be applied to the Darkmod?

That would be cool to have The Dark Mod officially listed as a supported game in GeForce Experience. :)

As far as promoting the TDM, the recent contest connected with the release of the new Thief game was a great promotion. Having TDM officially directly associated with the promotion and launch of a new Thief game is a very big deal, and shows just how highly TDM is thought of even by the team that made the new Thief game, and also how popular and well thought of it is with Thief fans. :)

Yes, I think... Unlike most games TDM has missions suitable for both good and poor hardware, but those specs are pretty modest and seem reasonable.

This is a double-edged sword, tho. Remember how NVdidia "detected" doom by looking for doom3.exe and then applied wrong optimizations, so that when you run TDM as doom3.exe it breaks, but if you rename it to mood3.exe, it works?

Do we really want NVidia to muck with our application, only to stop updating their code in a year and in two years we have another problem on our hands?

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?

Hope everyone has the blessing of undying motivation for "The Dark Mod 15th Anniversary Contest". Can't wait to see the many magnificent missions you all may have planned. Good luck, with an Ace!
