Congratulations! The winner was well-deserved, but I have personally enjoyed all of the missions, so -- thank you, Gentlemen! B)

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

As promised, more statistics:

Season Theme Captured:

1) Reap as you Sow 4.053

2) Rake Off 3.767

3) Winter Harvest 3.763

4) Mandrasola 3.673

5) Alberic's Curse 3.16

(Incidentally, this was going to be the main voting factor until that was widely disagreed with.)

Game-play:

1) Alberic's Curse 4.06

2) Mandrasola 3.982

3) Rake Off 3.744

4) Reap as you Sow 3.132

5) Winter Harvest 2.632

(A surprise upset in this category. Biker spent extra time and care to improve in this area. And while Biker even admitted the need for further improvement in this area, the votes have spoken "Alberic's Curse" has good game-play.)

Aesthetics and Story:

1) Alberic's Curse 4.54

2) Rake Off 4.442

3) Mandrasola 3.964

4) Reap as you Sow 3.816

5) Winter Harvest 2.737

(With top ranks in both game-play and aesthetics\story, the math easily favors Biker's results. All authors have high marks here, even ShadowHide's original version of Winter Harvest was well received from a visual standpoint.. (corrected due to typo in calcs) ...though I'm glad Biker added his touches to the V2 edition.)

Biker's less obvious "Seasonal" elements show why it was important to make the Season attribute a big part of the picture. If the rules only made Seasonal elements required without any relation to the scoring, then all the missions may have only paid lip-service to the theme... Biker's use of falling leaves for a fall theme was not widely recognized so I'll grant that his low score in that category is partly due to players not acknowledging that work.

The real surprise for me was Jesps surpassing Sotha. While his mission was expansive and visually stunning, I always favored Sotha's tense and difficult style. Jesps has always had a way of making sure his players have fun even in missions where the difficulty was not too challenging. Here, his mission is reasonably difficult (more-so than in some previous Jesps missions) and thus the fun of it is a statement to how well he can tune into that state-of-fun no matter the design.

The take-away is that both Jesps and Biker have taken to heart their areas of weakness and their missions have exceeded as a result of this self-improvement process.

If Sotha's "The Transaction" were in this contest, we could add him to the roster of authors who moved to improve their weak spots. Mandrasola, however, is nearly every bit as visually appealing as "The Transaction" so maybe Sotha spoiled his own numbers by making folks take for granted his improvements in visual design. We now expect Sotha to make good looking missions. ^_^

I don't get how the numbers are calculated... Winter Harvest had mostly 2 stars for Aesthetics/Story, while Reap had mostly 4...how are they only 0.03 apart?

What now.... I won, no way.... blimey! that was unexpected

Well I have to say thanks to Flanders for his superb models & retexturing of existing tdm models and his original story and suggestions. And I should also thank the author of the original T2 mission "cathedral of the damned" for allowing to do a homage to his mission in the first instance. And also thanks to my testers and and useal suspecsts on the forum (Fids, Serps, Springs, nbohr1more) for putting up with my never ending questions. If I have forgotten anyone, apologies as I have a brain like a sieve.

Right, on with next one etc

Hurray! A bountiful competition crop!

Many thanks to all who entered!

Congrats to Biker & all the participants.

Contests are most successful when there are a lot of entries, so in that respect it's better authors release an FM than worry about doing it just for the score.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

3) Glenham Tower = 80.38

4) Rake Off = 79.61 *

5) Mandrasola = 78.48 *

6) Somewhere Above the City = 77.7

7) Caduceus of St Alban = 75

8) Living Expenses = 72.93

9) Betrayal = 70.60

10) Swing = 70.40

11) Reap as you Sow = 70.26 *

12) Business as Usual = 68.56

13) Too Late = 66.60

14) Mad's Mountain = 66.45

15) The Rift = 66.39

18) Sons of Baltona = 57.23

19) Winter Harvest = 57.11 *

Yes, the numbers don't really matter but it interesting to see it laid-out. You sit there and think of reasons why the ranks are where they are... and disagree with some of it. But there it is. ^_^

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
