TDM in The News

No, imageboards don't even have user accounts (beyond identifying different users in a single thread, apparently), and discussion that doesn't get archived is deleted once it drops off page 10 (or whatever, it is a weird, weird world for kids with their loud music). Also, if you read the thread, you can see ex-LGS guy would like to stay anonymous, and we should respect that. Still, nice to see a similar shout-out.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Nothing bad about getting props from an Irrational dev (or LGS, it's not clear by the screenshot. Either way cool.)

Edit. Breakdown of the thread as I get it.

- A guy complains about the SS2 controls.

- Other guy slams him for being a PC gaming newb.

- First guy comes back, actually I was a SS2 dev. Here's the source code.

- Everybody watching :o

- Later on, probably when asked what game to play that's like oldschool LGS games, he says play Darkmod.

I think you have that backwards the guy complaining about the controls is not the SS2 developer, that is the one that called the guy a steam baby and a F casual. :D lol

In news, there is no such thing as bad news :D

In PR, late news can be good news, since it comes at a point where other news organs aren't writing about you. ;)

Although the download itself is just a tool set of assets, not a "game" per se

Yeah found it:

Yeah, they’re back, together with most of what was the original Thief armory – your trusty blackjack for knocking unwary opponents comatose, a dagger that’s good for backstabbing but little else (combat is notably ineffective here), and a bow that fires several arrow types.

Quite wrong in both instances.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

What do you expect, their title reads "Thief – The Dark Mod" ..

Edit:

Its only shortcoming is that it relies on sound to work – place a locked door near loud machinery and the system becomes broken.

TDM has a perception problem (pun intended :)

Yeah one of those reviews said we had a dagger and it was pretty useless. Fucking morons.

It's a long long long dagger! :D

What's even funnier is that in the training mission, at the end of the lockpicking section, there's a loud generator running that you have to turn off so you can hear the lockpicking.

THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT YOU MORONS!!! IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSBRUE!!!!

Sorry I hate stupid.

I always assumed I'd taste like boot leather.

Why do I have to enter a captcha to go to this website. And cookies? Fuck that.

You can call me Phi, Numbers, Digits, Ratio, 16, 1618, or whatever really, as long as it's not Phil.

Nice review and its pointed me to a game I have never heard of - Republique Remastered. Looks bloody awesome, amnd while I was there I spotted Deus Ex: The Fall

I saw this game quite some time ago on Steam, but currently have too many others to play. I also think, that it looks very interesting. Well, maybe next Sale ;-)

EDIT: I meant "Republique Remastered".

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
