well i go away for a few weeks and my most watched mod has a new site with some new eye candy. vary nice guard (vary nice). out standing and i ment to ask a while ago about your animations of the weapons and guards or even regular people are. i saw your black jack and bow shots, good job on both of them but the DOOm3 engine is so much more powerfull then that. i looks better then thief gold but not as good as doom3 can do it. i understand its a early version but i just want to know. i say copy the original animations for the best thief experience. try to make them as exact as posible. on the note of weapons i need to know guys, will your thief use a dagger or sword? i think sword is original and more the weapon people want to use. also have you started your maping for the game yet. i now you dont have a lot of items to place that are textured and are still makeing more, but did you guys get started on the opener or anything yet?

 

PS dont even let the idea of switching to the thief 3 editor enter your heads. that thing is a pease of shit. all ready out dated. doom3 cant even be pushed all the way yet so kick ass. TTYL peace holms

1) We are not copying Thief. We are doing it the way we think it is cool and it certainly is inspired by Thief, but we are not doing a copy. Therfore it is not an importance to us to have animations exactly like Thief had.

 

2) Don't worry about the editor. :) We have certainly looked into the editor (some of us at least) but nobody wanted to switch to T3 for that. Also we are not creating primarily a campaign but a toolset (even though we alo are doing a campaign), therefore the editor is not so important to us to have the editor. It would be different if we wanted to do a campaign first and foremost, because then the editor might have been welcome.

rock on man, its all good. i just want to know if you guys got the bow to cock and shoot a arrow yet. or get the sword to swing. so what is your estamet on this bad boys release a year? also the editor. it would be cool to see it this summer but thats just the bear talking. its a good idea to release the editor before your story line so people can play missions made by others while waiting to play the dark mod. latz

Thus far, we have a fully functional lightgem and working blackjack and bow and arrow animations. We have several screenshots on our homepage.

Here is a screenshot of the bow and arrow in action and our lightgem. The hands and bow and arrow in that picture are our first run and will be replaced with new versions shortly.

As for a release...don't expect the toolset to be completed until 2006 at the very least. We may release some beta versions, to allow FM authors to test the tools, but they will have been tested heavily before doing so.

      Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

      I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.
