    • Depends. (Elaborate in the thread.)

Do you mean should = "I would like it to" or should = "should already work this way but is broken"?

More "would like it to" but a lot of less conspicuous behaviors such as light sounds from banging around while manipulating objects tend to alert AIs to higher levels than shooting them in the face with a water arrow currently does.

I don't think any AI are aware of the water hitting them; just the sound if it hits close by. I'd support having it alert/wake them up though.

Have you ever tried to sleep through a cup of water ot the face? :P

The people I've slept with are kinder to me than...nevermind... ;p

Would it be hard to implement full alert if (awake) guards are hit by a water arrow? I remember water arrowing a guard with a flare, to expunge it, and, as you said, he seemed to be only alerted by the sound, which was quite weird. ^_^

I voted depends, if the water hits their boots, it shouldn't do anything. Face? Absolutely.

I'm not sure it's worth making that distinction. It's not unreasonable to think they might wake up even if it hits their boots.

The only issue I guess is that some maps have AIs sitting around a table with loot on it that you can only get without a high alert level by dousing a candle or overhead light fixture with a water arrow. Knighton Manor and The Builder Roads come to mind, with the latter having an actual objective to not raise your alert level to a certain level or fail the mission when at the highest difficulty.

Can't we simply explain this away by the potency of the water in the water arrow, that it only requires a teeny-tiny bit to put out fire? I think something like that was mentioned in the arrow thread.

So you're both advocating that the water not bother AI that it hits?

It can be treated like a very mild version of getting hit by an object. More of an irritation than a suspected aggressive act.

If I implement this (and at this point it looks like a resounding Yes), I'm going to have to first fix the bug where falling water doesn't stop at the floor.

I wouldn't want to douse a torch on floor 2 and have the falling water wake up a sleeper below it on floor 1.

Correct, though the proposed narrative fits with this proposal as well.

You can call me Phi, Numbers, Digits, Ratio, 16, 1618, or whatever really, as long as it's not Phil.

I would be careful. Water particles fall through the floors, right? Therefore, one might awaken an AI that is one floor below the fireplace you are dousing.

This scenario should be investigated first.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

I'd imagine the arrow itself (holding the water crystal) would wake up or set any guard on alert because even though it is blunt rod , the force behind it would probably be strong enough to sting and / or leave a bruise (similar to a paint ball).

i am so euphoric to see new FMs keep coming out and I am keen to try it out in my leisure time, then suddenly my PC is spouting a couple of S.M.A.R.T errors...
tbf i cannot afford myself to miss my network emulator image file&progress, important ebooks, hyper-v checkpoint & hyper-v export and the precious thief & TDM gamesaves. Don't fall yourself into & lay your hands on crappy SSD

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
