...maybe it's a nice gesture to at least do something for those of us who play or make fan missions - even if it's a small thing that isn't an editor.

 

This is a good idea. Why not PM Freyja with this proposition.

It still reads as a back stab to shut down TDM permantly, you can't make a TDM featuring anything from the thief francise its against the thief francise terms of copyright, and TDM terms of use.

There is nothing to worry about and there is no back stab to shut us down at ALL. We would hardly be involved in any process where there was a danger to the Mod. There is a contest and everyone will be brought up to speed once everything is clear.

I think she just wasn't paying attention when she replied, because what she said makes absolutely no sense at all.

 

Hard to believe after yesterday, that this entire day went by and EM still haven't officially announced anything. Must be a lot of t crossing and i dotting going on.

Yes folks, the contest is legitimate. We're very happy to be part of an effort to recognize the creativity and passion of the Thief community. The announcement caught us a bit off guard and there were still details to sort out, but those issues should be finalized tomorrow. At that point I'll explain how The Dark Mod fits into all this.

It seems that using thief IP in TDM is only legit in the scope of the contest, which means that TDM missions featuring thief IP must still not be hosted by the team. At least that's what I got out of it until now. So don't get your hopes up too high, ungoliant.

Where do you get that from? There hasn't really been any kind of official announcement or details released for the contest yet.

STiFU is team darkmod. he would probably know. and if that is the case, i could give fuck-all about the contest. just looks like "TDM is hardcore, and they support Thi4f, so you should buy it". garbage.

Unless I interpreted it wrong, you're able to submit a video of previous works. A 5 minute video of something like In Remembrance Of Him could be great to submit, if the author felt like it.

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh?       I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

      Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
