Ai path finding circles

I couldn't figure how to post stuff to bug tracker it looks like I am not allowed to? anyways I would like to report that sometimes when the ai are walking they make these weird turns and sometimes they'll even go in circles forever until I do something about. The weird turns get me caught sometimes cause I think they are going to keep going straight but they do a slight turn and see me. I guess the ai thinks there is something in the way and then it tries to go around it but there is nothing there, not sure how it works.

Is their way blocked by anything? Left a drawer open in their path? Often circling seems due to trying to find a way for them to get to their destination. Sometimes if they are circling in front of a door, it helps to close the door, then they'll open it and go through cleanly.

Wasn't it that you can't put path nodes too close to things or they'll do circles?

Also you don't have to guide them through doors with path nodes. Just put one in each room and they'll find the way on their own.

Are you talking about a released FM or one you are building? If it's one you are building, this is a common bug when you change architecture and "map" without dmapping, and the solution is to dmap again. If it's a released FM then, yes, this happens occasionally, but like grayman said it used to be worse and it's better now.

Edit: Oops, didn't read that you hadn't started mapping yet, so disregard that. Good luck!

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Finally got my PC back from the shop after my SSD got corrupted a week ago and damaged my motherboard. Scary stuff, but thank goodness it happened right after two months of FM development instead of wiping all my work before I could release it. New SSD, repaired Motherboard and BIOS, and we're ready to start working on my second FM with some added version control in the cloud just to be safe!

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.
