  • Thief's Den now works but the title in the Alchemist hasn't been changed in darkmod.txt and it doesn't work
  • I wonder if there is a propagation problem with Thiefs Den not working and then working
  • I just installed The Alchemist from the link above and it works fine

  • Will check and fix
  • What problem is that?
  • All the files from the DB links were uploaded to the mirrors, so i can only think you didnt remove all traces of said mission before redownloading them.

Propagation problem - I wondered if there was more than one mirror and the download hadn't propagated across them

I removed the fm folder and installed from the link in the beta forums and it worked

I just removed the folder again and downloaded using the game installer and this is the result

The reason for you getting an old version most of the time can be found in these traces, generated just a few minutes ago by me.

Only one of the mirrors has the new file. The other two still have the old one.

It appears to me, that the new file has been uploaded to all 3 servers, but not to the URLs that have been registered for the ingame downloader to use.

The updated files (April 2014) are here:

I think it would be best to update the mission DB to point to the updated files ... and scrap the ones in the TDM2testmissions directory.

I don't see why that directory should be used anymore - except for testing maybe.

The same issue with the Alchemist. Both links in the mission DB refer to the old version :

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

      I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
      Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

      Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
