After failing, Objectives show success?

I was just watching a beta-test of my mission, and the player failed an objective (he had the objective screen open when this happened and saw the X appear). After the failed game showed, he clicked on the Objectives option, and that same objective had a checkmark instead of an X.

Has anyone noticed this before? That could be quite confusing for players trying to figure out why they failed, and I'm wondering if it's a game bug or something incorrect I've done with my objectives.

I don't know where the bug lies, but I can confirm it doesn't always happen. I just tried in the test map I made for tracking mission stats. 'Do not kill 2 guards' failed with a red X on my objectives screen when my second fire arrow hit, and when I called up the Objectives page again from the Mission Failed screen, I still had a red X in there, not a tick.

What's the objectives setup?

FM's: Builder Roads, Old Habits, Old Habits Rebuild

Mapping and Scripting: Apples and Peaches

Sculptris Models and Tutorials: Obsttortes Models

My wiki articles: Obstipedia

Texture Blending in DR: DR ASE Blend Exporter

Weird. I just tried it myself to reproduce it, and I got a red checkmark, which is different from the video, and different from what I assume it's supposed to be (a red x). At least a red checkmark wouldn't confuse players.

You had me worried with that post! I distinctly remembered seeing red check marks last night, both ticks and crosses, but I've been testing on my svn build so my immediate thought was I must have introduced an unintended "feature" with my commit to MissionData.cpp last week! But I just tried using 2.01 and the check marks are always red. I tried with both positive and negative (ongoing) objectives. Do you see green?

?? Yes. Successful objectives are always marked with a green checkmark, aren't they?

I looked around and you're right, the LPs I checked have red checkmarks. I could swear they are supposed to be green and are green on my build, but it's equally possible I'm just going crazy.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
