Evening all

 

 

Myself and Baal have been working on and off on a map for the last 2 years and we are now finally ready for public beta testing. Its a highly detailed and polished manor based mission which, will raise the bar for this location type. Baal was been the master architect and had already built a good 60% of the map by the time he asked me to help out, I then added multiple locations and untold detail passes to the entire map. We have also had input & help from other TDM team members, but most notably Melan for the story we eventually went with. This will be another FM to use the video creation/productions talents of Crowind, the genius behind the briefing video for Sir Edgars bathhouse & A nobel home.

 

Atm we are looking to do a week or so of testing, but as with all things that maybe subject to change.

I'm in too :) Now with my upgraded system (for Thief4) all the older versions are rocket fast too :) Just send me a link & I'll grab it on the PC.

My hobby built desktop is: XFX Play Hard-nVidia nForce 790i Ultra SLI

Onboard is:

CPU: Intel Socket 775

VGA: nVidia GeForce EVGA GTX-260

RAM: DDRIII 16Gb

HDD: 2 Tb

OS: 64bit Win 8.1

All service packs and latest drivers installed.

When my new PC arrives, I could give this a spin - but it will take another week or so at least. So please don't wait for me :)

Yes BUT sadly I will not be posting an assessment of my initial playthrough until some time after I manage to download the map. I'm on restricted bandwidth due to my isp being ass%$#ls and throttling bandwidth so, 23% now and hopfully later today or tomorrow I will bug test and give some feed back. For now I'm reading through the Beta test thread and am anxious to playtest.

 

I'm thinking I should play on easiest first then medium and hard. Would you like me to or should I just go Medium and Expert?

I would offer to test, but you don't need any more experienced testers,and I'm sitting in Ireland on a laptop with an 830M, not my desktop back home.

I vote Xarg as a beta tester even above me.... Oh wait ahh I do have an AMD system here a 7850k or some thing but I still vote Xarg because he is Cool and a legend and still needs something more than an 830M laptop.... Am I right ?

Haha thanks, I'm flattered, but they already have enough experienced testers, and I think my longtime playing and dabbling with mappers isn't the kind of tester they're looking to fill out the ranks. If you've already been accepted, go for it! I've tested a bunch already, someone else can have a turn this time. I've got a desktop at home with the specs listed in my sig, I'm just overseas with this laptop for a bit longer, but I suspect by the time I get home the testing period for this mission will be almost at a close.

The laptop in your sig seems pretty decent, at the very least it has a lot more GPU horsepower than mine, which is an i7 5500Q with a single NVidia 830M. It does the trick, but I do miss the larger screensize and horsepower of my desktop.

As one of the testers I find it very difficult to put myself in the position of a novice or near novice as things which I find easy other do not but worse still suggestions I make as to where it might be too difficult may well make it far too easy

      Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh?       Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?
