Bikerdude and I are succeeded to register TDM (as a test-version) in PlayOnMac/PlayOnMac.

This means that Linux and Mac Os users can easely install TDM in a WINE enviroment, using user-friendly a graphical frontend.
If there are problems with the native versions (and installers) of TDM.

To install TDM in playonmac/playonlinux, follow the steps:

  1. Run playonlinux/playonmac
  2. select the install button
  3. check all the "include" boxes (testing, no-cd needed, commercial) and select "games"
  4. select "the dark mod" > install, accept all warning messages and follow the described steps.

For a quick installation, select the "online" install method, during the installation.

Please give your feeback and/or contribute.

I dont understand why we get the messages that tdm has "a protection againts copy".

Maybe because its using the tdm-updater?

What's the point of TDM under Wine?

I know there are pains with running TDM natively, but aren't all the workarounds already known? Certainly I'm very happy to run TDM as a native Linux app, and apart from the stupid sound configuration dance (+ PA evasion) it works very well; isn't making TDM play properly on Linux the right way forward?

My point to use WINE is to run TDM on my mac, because there is, at the moment, no native 2.03 mac os build.

So I posted this sollution as workaround.

To make this workaround a bit user-friendlier, i created a installation script so people can install TDM it with the playonmac/playonlinux installationmenu.

Today i announced that members of playonlinux/playonmac have accepted this script and it now available in the the playonmac/playonlinux installationmenu.

To make the installation of TDM user-friendlier, i have scripted several other installation packages.

Keep your tutorial video's coming, bikerdude! :D

Just some quick pointers for your next video
(didnt have to time to watch the whole vid. But for now):

  • When making your next video, please wait a while for a update of the script.
Because the script is not ready yet. There is a lot of things missing (like a shortcut to the tdm executable) and i haven't yet tested the standalone installation method, etc.
And thats why i ask for feedback. (i included your use-windows-7-tip)
  • The "Online" option, downloads the tdm-updater zip and checks it with a md5-hash.
Every time when the updater-zip is been updated, someone needs to calculate the md5sum and correct it in the script.
  • Just install TDM on playonmac, described in my first post in this topic. (its the same for playonlinux. Tested it successfully on lubuntu)
Downloading the script from the pom/pol website and running it from pol/pom, is only used for testing.

Just for fun:

To pronounce my nickname (that sound also like my firstname), its sounds like "frake" (like "wake" of a wakeboard, + the "fr").

Please do not use Freak. ,...like Sharon did on a old episode of HAK5, hak5 7x05: Airport WiFi Challenge and Your Ultra Software Picks (at 16:36)
(but she pronounced my lastname correct!)

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
