As well as trying to work on the code I am willing to test any mission and give feedback. I've been playing thief games since I was 6 (20 now) , have played thievery quite a bit, have played many competitive fps games like counter strike,bf2 cod4 and analyzed the map design and strategic attributes of the maps therein. I can also help come up with cool ideas for maps too.

PS: do we have a teamspeak server or anything like that? We definitely should have at least a small one for people to get together to work on things.

#thedarkmod on an IRC server would be good too. Less intrusive, easy to comment if you don't feel like talking or are shy like me! (j/k I'm not shy :P) Probably could even run a client on a phone.

There's several clients available for mobile phones, though personally I find IRCing on my phone annoying.

A host like Freenode sounds right up the alley of TDM, but from what I can tell they don't allow any new channels. As far as functionality goes I like Snoonet, but I'm sure there's other options out there. (Please no Quakenet)

You can call me Phi, Numbers, Digits, Ratio, 16, 1618, or whatever really, as long as it's not Phil.

Blitzed is a popular IRC network used for many Linux user groups in the UK. I'm sure if someone wanted to open a #darkmod channel on there nobody would object. However, don't be surprised if you don't get a huge number of users, since people working on the mod are in lots of different time zones and tend to prefer asynchronous communication methods such as forums rather than real-time chat.

I've got a client open most of the day, so you can expect me to be there.

I'm making a server browser for tdm in the meantime while I figure out the doom 3 networking code. hopefully I can put a irc channel in the server browser like thievery has.

Pardon my ignorance, but why does a singleplayer game need a server browser? Or are you making a multiplayer mod of darkmod?

I've tinkered with the code trying to fix the multiplayer mode but it's a huge task, there's tons of bugs and memory leaks .
I'd rather work on fixing the spawn and objective system, getting one server to work, and only later add a server browser, an irc channel and everything else.

There's plenty of things handled by the local game which should be handled serverside...besides that, I can't get the player to spawn after loading the map, there might be some missing code in a function.
Maybe I should just start from scratch adding stuff on top of the D3 multiplayer code. I don't know.

That was my thinking in this post too (http://forums.thedarkmod.com/topic/17225-my-question-and-progress-thread/?p=373628).

Start out with the most systems stripped out. Get the spawn working. Then add things back system by system fixed to multiplayer. I imagine after the first few, the work might get easier as it starts becoming more familiar.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
