Assuming that I have the money (my current job terminates at the end of the year) then I will be up for this. I'm not too bothered where in Europe it takes place but I would prefer if it had some beautiful scenery and lots of old buildings to take pictures of.

Meeting IRL sounds like fun. Best of luck! I envy those who can go, just like that, to another country to meet people.

I wonder if a meeting like that could be arranged 'in virtuo:' DayZ standalone players of the TDM community could agree on a server and meet in Chernarus/Solnichiy and have a barbeque party with lots of Rasputin Kvass. And guns of course. I could attend that one as the time investment is much lower.

(Let's not tell AB the venue or she comes with a kill team and snipes us dead. Or fills the area with bear trap and land mines.)

You ought to pick some appropriately dingy old-looking city, like Budapest or Prague, or with a great cathedral like Trier or Freiberg.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Budapest is not thiefy, Prague is hellishly crowded and a bit of a tourist trap.

Come the time of peril, did the ground gape, and did the dead rest unquiet 'gainst us. Our bands of iron and hammers of stone prevailed not, and some did doubt the Builder's plan. But the seals held strong, and the few did triumph, and the doubters were lain into the foundations of the new sanctum. -- Collected letters of the Smith-in-Exile, Civitas Approved

Well I thought Budapest was a little Thiefy while I was there, with the old crumbly architecture at night. It's not like the old parts of some old cities though, I guess.

I have nothing against Germany though, Deutschephile that I am.

There's lots of places in germany where you can visit castles and old small towns. At the moment I'm very busy and I don't really have time to figure out a nice route with many attractions though. Maybe some other local can come up with some nice ideas to comment on. Thuringia is a nice place for that but it is badly reachable (mostly from Erfurt). Leipzig is also nice but theres mostly newer buildings in between the olde ones.

If you want to meet in Germany, I would recommend Cologne or Munich. Cologne has a beautiful "Altstadt" near the river Rhein which probably was exactly like some of the TDM cities in medieval times and there are a lot of castles nearby along the river itself. Munich has much bigger residences and palaces, but with "Neuschwanstein" there is the prototype Disney castle nearby ;)...

München has frequent flights and good airline connections, which is what matters for most people. Although personally, I'd just come by the Railjet.

As long as we can get direct flights from a nearby airport it's all pretty much the same. Some cities seem to be much more expensive to fly to though. I fly to Italy pretty frequently, and for some reason it usually costs about 4 times as much to fly to Pisa as it does to Rome, for example, but that might just be a quirk of my local airport.

It seems like a great Idea.. Also Germany sounds good. Im from Czech rep, hopefully the train will be cheap enough for me and Ill be able to come. Prag is cheaper and I would say that its a very thievish like city, but a bit more calmer place in Germany might be just a better idea.

Dresden would be best for me, obviously. =))

If it settles on Cologne i might be in if the date don't conflicts with job duties.

A Plus for Cologne are also very good and cheap flight connections to Airport Cologne/Bonn (easyjet, ryanair etc) from many destinations.

Afaik. not much left of any Old Town (totally detroyed during the WWII apart of the Cologne Dom). Nice places at the Rhein during summer time.

There is plenty thief looking cities.. Most important is that we will have enough place to stay and the good connection to that city. Someone living in a house with garden or estate would be great=). Germany seems to be a good option mainly because there is a lot of taffers from Germany, so the distance to the meeting would be shorter for most of the crowd. But maybe Im mistaken. I dont even have idea where most of you came from..

I've updated the articles for your FMs and your author category at the wiki. Your newer nickname (DeTeEff) now comes first, and the one in parentheses is your older nickname (Fieldmedic). Just to avoid confusing people who played your FMs years ago and remember your older nickname. I've added a wiki article for your latest FM, Who Watches the Watcher?, as part of my current updating efforts. Unless I overlooked something, you have five different FMs so far.

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
