Request for custom model

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has the time and desire to create a rather simple custom model for me. I've seen it plenty of times playing Thief 2 FMs and it looks to be a foot rest/small seat for noble areas. If possible it would be great to have multiple skins for different colors to go with it as well and I can't speak on behalf of the TDM team but I think it would make a great addition to the core mod as well.

Here's a picture of the item below.

Thanks!

I can do it. Apparently it's called an "ottoman". I'm thinking about making it openable.

Oh that would be cool an openable version, I suppose we could have opened and closed versions. Also an Ottoman.. huh that's a word i've never heard before.

Thanks for helping out man you're awesome! :)

getting characters to use the ottomans will be harder trick.

The way it would be integrated would be the same as all current seats. Currently to tell an AI to sit you just click a check box in DR and then it's simply a matter of lining it up which is the same thing mappers do for all AIs that need to sit on a chair/object.

For what it's worth, here's cushion textures from the EP +a tasseled bottom I just threw together. If you want it as Thiefy as possible.

Awesome! I've been making some decorative pillows and had little to go one, but this is perfect. :)

Since you had stated you had not heard the name Ottoman for the object, I assume you did not realize it is just a fancy name for a foot rest. ie Place ottoman in front of Comfy Chair™; Sit in Chair normally, then elevate feet onto Ottoman. This might require trying to combine the sitting action with the lay in bed action...I dunno.

@Springs, do you want to commit these to SVN or shall I..?

I'll handle that batch.

An ottoman can be a stool as well as a footstool, according to definitions at http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Ottoman

Back when I was in primary school, an educational broadcast included a song about an auction house, which featured the couplet 'What am I bid for this fine silk ottoman? / Wide enough to fit the stoutest bottom on.'

Edit: maybe it's one of those trans-Atlantic things? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ottoman_%28furniture%29#Not_an_Ottoman_in_the_UK

Oh wow, this expanded quickly. U'm I think I messaged you about it Goldman, but I'm already modeling out a chair and ottoman.

Just giving this as a shout out so others know, but I'm getting to work on a high poly for a set. I'll be able to likely put in the most time this Wednesday/Thursday (since I'm working a lot till then).

But I'm working on something very close to this... http://office-turn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Chesterfield-Queen-Anne-Oxblood-High-Back-Armchair-Leather-with-Footstool.jpg

Modeler galore & co-authors literally everything

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).

Well then, it's been about a week since I released my first FM and I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised by its reception. I had expected half as much interest in my short little FM as I received and even less when it came to positive feedback, but I am glad that the aspects of my mission that I put the most heart into were often the most appreciated. It was also delightful to read plenty of honest criticism and helpful feedback, as I've already been given plenty of useful pointers on improving my brushwork, level design, and gameplay difficulty.
I've gotten back into the groove of chipping away at my reading and game list, as well as the endless FM catalogue here, but I may very well try my hand at the 15th anniversary contest should it materialize. That is assuming my eyes are ready for a few more months of Dark Radiant's bright interface while burning the midnight oil, of course!
