Not able to save

Recommended Posts

All of a sudden I cannot save. When clicking the save game and assigning a name to it the the menu closes, but it doesn't actually save.

Quicksave also brings no reaction. I tried starting a new game but it just won't save.

What can be causing this?

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

First check your savegame folder isn't read-only. Some people (including me once) have hit a rare problem that makes your TDM folder and its subfolders read-only. Never been able to rep it.

I don't know why but when I uncheck the read-only mark of the folder and click ok - it reverts back to read-only. Despite actually approving to change the setting.

I'll look into this tomorrow. Very odd.

What OS are you running..? and are you logged in with a user or admin level account.

I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit. I am the admin.

I did play the game with a guest account, in the sense of a non-admin account - can this be the cause of it?

I got it working.

All that was required apparently was switch the permissions for the disk for the other users.

I also deleted prior to that all my saves. Now it works as intended.

I've finally managed to log in to The Dark Mod Wiki. I'm back in the saddle and before the holidays start in full, I'll be adding a few new FM articles and doing other updates. Written in Stone is already done.

You cannot receive PMs. Could you please be so kind and check your mailbox if it is full (or maybe you switched off the function)?

I like the new frob highlight but it would nice if it was less "flickery" while moving over objects (especially barred metal doors).
