God X3 is sooooooo shit.

Retract that comment, heathen! :)

Actually, I'm curious. What didn't you like about it? I poured a ton of hours into that game. I loved taking out Xenon Q ships with the flamethrower laser (forget the name) and just zooming through sectors in a maxed out Kestrel.

I had a hard time just getting into the X games (played part 1, 2 and 3). They're sorta like "i push the player into the water and see if he can swim". Nothing really explained, no tutorials or anything. Yes, you learn a lot in the game, but frankly, especially part 3 is so complex with all those menus (did i say the small font in the menus, and the complexity of those suck?) that there should at least be a proper tutorial. Or a hint "how to play the game". They were always fascinating for me, but i never really got into one of them. Which is a shame, because i bet they're not bad at all. Just bad to get into.

I liked X3 (AP) just to blow time cruising in space pretending I have important space shit to do. I never got particularly far in it because I treat it more like a sim than a game.

But I liked watching the Elite videos. Viscerally it's good, it makes you feel like you're really in the cockpit with the creaking and shaking and engine rumble, and authentic little details. That's its comparative advantage, I'd say. Immersion.

I probably 'play' SpaceEngine the most, just searching out cool screenshots of planets. It's not even a real game.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

Does anyone actually use the Normalise button in the Surface inspector? Even after looking at the code I'm not quite sure what it's for.

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
