Images taken in the new release for Autumn Aurora ( http://www.moddb.com/mods/autumn-aurora-compilation-mod/downloads), Garbage level.

It's like Misery for Shadows of Chernobyl (Misery is a Call of Pripyat mod).

Maybe the lens flare is too strong/invasive :D

If you drag them up to where the tabs go, they should open. Worked for me on firefox.

I tried out Lost Alpha a few months ago and deleted it again. The AI was so purely random and stupid. Now I play original CoP just with a few HD mods. I LOVE the stalker games! There was also an awesome movie with a great atmosphere too, with the title Stalker.

I love them too, and these screenshots are some of the reason why. Even with the enclosed levels, it still felt like a really huge & open world, the atmosphere walking around was fantastic, and the fact that it's a special zone where weird things happen adds to it.

I just read the original novel (Roadside Picnic), which has a separate story from the movie. I think it's funny that there's at least 3 totally different adaptations of the zone ... the novel, the movie, and the game ... and all 3 of them are great in their own independent way. That's a good indication that the underlying idea is really evocative and versatile. Although there are lots of connections between them too, the anomalies, the artifacts, the stalkers, etc.

What do you see when you turn out the light? I can't tell you but I know that it's mine.

That's what the film is called in Germany :) I never read the book though - might try it out, thanks for the tip!

"Picknick am Wegesrand". Not exactly the same story as Stalker but it's a good book.

stalker is based on it, but the book is not about clans, populated zone and shooting, it's actually the opposite.

About athmo. Misery for Call of Pripyat, has imo best athmosphere so far, geting close to metro games in some way..

Roadside Picnic was the original story.

REALLY baffling that the Strugatski brothers behind it kind of anticipated Chernobyl as did the writer and director of the motion picture "Stalker".

But it's not for everyone I guess. Not everyone appreciates science fiction the way it's done for example with "Solaris" I mean the book and the 1972 movie.

"I really perceive that vanity about which most men merely prate — the vanity of the human or temporal life. I live continually in a reverie of the future. I have no faith in human perfectibility. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active — not more happy — nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. The result will never vary — and to suppose that it will, is to suppose that the foregone man has lived in vain — that the foregone time is but the rudiment of the future — that the myriads who have perished have not been upon equal footing with ourselves — nor are we with our posterity. I cannot agree to lose sight of man the individual, in man the mass."...

Turns out my 15th anniversary mission idea has already been done once or twice before! I've been beaten to the punch once again, but I suppose that's to be expected when there's over 170 FMs out there, eh? I'm not complaining though, I love learning new tricks and taking inspiration from past FMs. Best of luck on your own fan missions!

I wanna play Doom 3, but fhDoom has much better features than dhewm3, yet fhDoom is old, outdated and probably not supported. Damn!
Makes me think that TDM engine for Doom 3 itself would actually be perfect.

Maybe a bit of advice ? In the FM series I'm preparing, the two main characters have the given names Toby and Agnes (it's the protagonist and deuteragonist, respectively), I've been toying with the idea of giving them family names as well, since many of the FM series have named protagonists who have surnames. Toby's from a family who were usually farriers, though he eventually wound up working as a cobbler (this serves as a daylight "front" for his night time thieving). Would it make sense if the man's popularly accepted family name was Farrier ? It's an existing, though less common English surname, and it directly refers to the profession practiced by his relatives. Your suggestions ?

Looks like the "Reverse April Fools" releases were too well hidden. Darkfate still hasn't acknowledge all the new releases. Did you play any of the new April Fools missions?
